I received this 750ml bottle in a trade with my friend Joost from Antwerp this past October... Diving in before the first snow of the season hits later tonight....

Poured some into one of my trusted Smutty snifters... It's a muted, opaque, tawny, russet brown color. Has a touch of fine carbo here and there but not much. Thin in the head department, it has just a smidge of miniscule bubbles on the surface, with little lacing. The aroma is mild, with some sweet malts, caramel, and a hint of brown sugar. The body is a decent medium, and there's a light touch of prickle as it goes down.

Sweetness is what first hits the palate, with more malty caramel and brown sugar. Has some notes of prunes and dates, with some earthy, woody action. The sweetness is at a nice level, and never gets cloying. The 11% ABV is a warming treat on a cold eve... Nice stuff! Prosit!!

Clear amber color with beige head. Aroma is sweet and malty with some spicy wood notes dried fruits, mostly raisins. Taste is malty and toasty but not very sweet. There is a spicy/woody/resiny bitterness throughout and also some dark cherries. Medium body and carbonation. Quite easy drinking for the high ABV and it has some interesting woody and spicy notes.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown/burgundy color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some good amount of lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt with light residual sugar notes with dry fruits and some barrel-age notes. Taste is also a good mix of caramelized malt notes with some dry fruits with light residual sugar notes with wood shaving notes clearly coming across. Body is about average with good carbonation and light warming alcohol notes. Very well brewed with good balanced between flavours and good drinkability.
