St. Feuillien Saison has a medium, off-white head, and a hazy, brilliant (almost luminescent) orange appearance, with very noticeable and relatively large, brown chunks at the bottom. Not much lacing, here. The aroma is of pungent, spicy, horse-blanket, and musty grains. Taste is of all that with maybe white pepper and basil? Bitterness is low. Mouthfeel is medium, and St. Feuillien Saison finishes semi-dry and delicious. No complaints, only plaudits, from me.

Appearance - This is a beautiful gold in color with a light orangish tinge and a big white head that came up on an easy pour and showed great retention.
Smell - The funk is prominent at the nose but not offensive and I don't catch any sourness. The malt is very light and I'm picking up a stiff hop backbone.
Taste - The sharp, funky mold is tightly-melded to a big sweetish flavor. The sweets are light citrus with a bit of honey but otherwise not overly sugary, just a nice natrual sweet taste that rightly balances out the funk.
There's also quite a big hop bite here as well. It's leafy, like endive, with an earthy character that lingers from stem to stern. The hops, natural sweetness, and moldy funk are in perfect balance here.
Mouthfeel - This medium-bodied Saison is properly carbonated and has a strong, bitter aspect that pushes the limits of the style. It plays well in the cheeks and is quite intense without offending the senses.
Drinkability - This effort by St F lacked the sourness of some examples of the style so if you're looking for that this will disappoint. If you're open to other leanings though and appreciate what is obviously a patient brewer working with high-quality ingredients then this is a must-try.
Personally I thought this was a home run. The hopping is very stiff, the funk mild but intense, but most of all the sweetness that balances the other two sharp aspects of this flavor profile was very pure and natural. Too often you get that cheap, sugary sweet flavor in pretenders of the style but here this is high-quality, natural sweetness that salivates the mouth and balances out the other players in this ale.

St. Feuillien Saison
11.2 oz. can from Copper Vine ($2.99), poured into a Duvel tulip.
A- A liberal pour creates 1-1/2 fingers of off-white head that drops to a decent lace. The body was a hazy, golden-orange that shows quite a few floaties. Medium-light carbonation. Thin, delicate rings are left on the glass.
S- Nice and funky. Bubble gum, lemon grass, and a bit of black pepper. Maybe a little orange and grapefruit juice. Some Granny Smith Apple peel.
T- Very nice. A little gummy with a sweet malt backbone that suggests a sweetened cream of wheat. The finish is fairly clean with a black peppery bite. Another sip and I'm reminded of juicy fruit gum.
M- Medium body. Creamy with medium carbonation. Fairly dry finish.
O- A really solid saison. A little pricy at $3 for a smallish can (though maybe not against other imports). So, is it worth it? Once in a while maybe. It's a style I really enjoy, and quite a few local and regional Brewers do it pretty well.

A pleasure to drink. In my tulip the beer was a hazy orange color with a medium-sized white head. Wonderful aroma, earthy yeast, citrus, a little spice. Nice funky yeast taste, orange, a little clove. The beer does have a tang to it, and was most enjoyable.

Gotta love canned Belgian beer in the summer weekend cooler!
Pours hazed and dull looking apricot, the off white head is not long lasting, but does leave a layer of low sheeting and a fine bubble film.
Fruity nose with some coriander and mild spicing.
On the palate this is a weird one, good thing saison is such a broad ranging style...I get a variety of flavors with pepper, corainder, licorice, allspice, and ripe fruit all coming to mind.
Moderate hops tightining up things in the finish.
Not my favorite saison but still happy to have given it a try.
Went pretty well with some minerally raw clams.

330 ml bottle Beergium - When opened went up like Vesuvius. Have a chalice ready. Pours hazy amber with a huge foamy head. Very high carbonation. Nice lacing. Smell - bready, sweet fermented fruit. Taste - sweet fruit foretaste with a light crisp bitter finish. Very nice farmhouse ale. Shame some was lost.

Poured from a 750ml into a Corsendonk Glass. Very Beautiful strong white head with a bit of a haze which was perfectly acceptable for the style of beer.
The smell is fruity with a slight yeasty bite,
The taste was very clean & crisp with front end fruit notes standardly expected with the Saison style.
All in all a great rendition of Saison. I have had few that match this version.

Pours a nice, amber colour. Smells similar to a lambic, sour, slightly spicy, faint Belgian yeast. Light tasting, Belgian yeast, banana, cloves, spicy, sour/tart, crisp and refreshing.

Poured from a corked and caged 750ml bottle into a dogfish head snifter. Soft pour, yields a very nice 3/4 inch of off white head. Head exhibits fantastic staying power. Color is a very cloudy amber yellow.
Nose- Some light European hop. Slightly astringent. Green apple.
Pallate- Very nice. Lemon zest, some peppery spice. Green apple tartness. Very crisp and refreshing, creamy. Lemon zest becomes more prevalent as it warms. Strong yeast presence. Very Good.
Mouthfeel- Very active, tart and a bit dry.
Drinkability- Very Good. Its been to long since my last visit to the style.

Saint Feuillien Saison pours cloudy, orange amber with a 1.5” fluffy persistent head. Fruit to over ripe fruit, slight alcohol, and light biscuit aromas rise from the glass. The palate starts with a fruit blend of plum, apricot and berry over light biscuit, with a touch of sweetness that dries out as it moves over the tongue, drying slightly and becoming more peach like with a hint of citrus by the finish. There is a slight over ripe taste in the background. It has a medium body and a touch above medium on the carbonation. The carbonation is soft and fine giving the beer a pleasant creaminess.
