Style: Tripel

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
This beer has a white, smooth and very compact head. Its pale amber colour is very characteristic revealing a distinctive maltiness. It has a rich aroma with a unique combination of aromatic hops, spices and the typical bouquet of fermentation – very fruity. Secondary fermentation in the bottle gives it a unique aroma due to the presence of yeast. St-Feuillien Triple has a very strong and exceptionally lingering taste thanks to its density and its long storage period. Whether served as a refreshing aperitif in summer or savoured during the winter months, the Triple is a connoisseur’s beer par excellence.

Golden color with less than average head on pour. smell is faint. Despite the alcohol content the taste is a bit subdued. Notes of lavender and a hint of orange. slightly sweet aftertaste. Drank from a growler that was filed earlier today. A Triple that knows what it is, but makes you wonder if you'd like another one.

Pours crystal clear with minimal head, beer almost looks flat and is definitely a weak element.

Aroma is nicely spiced with a touch of citrus.

Taste is very good, real irony element to this brew, alcohol comes through in just the right quantity, and the citrus notes are there.

Feel is a touch effervescent, but overall the brew is well balanced.

This is such a nearly legendary beer, just needed a decent foamy head, and a touch less gas.

Bottle dated 1/2016, so over a year old:
It's obvious that this bottle had some signs of oxidation, but the effects were not too detrimental, IMO. The maltiness I expected was present but paired with an earthiness that had only a slight note of "skunk" to it. I cannot know for sure until I try a fresher bottle, but the end result was still refreshing.

Pours a night golden, clear, and with what actually to me was too much head. Some lacing as the white fluff sustained.

Nose is grassy, light citrus zest, dried spices, and just the lightest hint of sulfur.

Taste starts dry, gains a little sweetness, then the grass, earth note, and a light bite of alcohol. Lingering grass and again, light skunk.

11.2oz bottle poured into a St. Feuillien chalice. Bottle stamp: L5073 10:32 02/07/2013.

Appearance: Slow pour to leave the sediment behind gave a hazy translucent gold-orange. Thin persistent white head with fine strands of lacing noted.

Smell: Strong fruity ester aroma along with a nice yeasty/bready aroma.

Taste: Fruity esters, yeast, bready malt, some phenol, and a nice noble hop leafy finish.

Mouthfeel: Initial strong carbonation with a dry finish gave way to an light mouthfeel that is still dry but leaves some stickiness on the teeth.

Overall / Drinkability: A very very good Tripel. I could easily have another one right now. A slow sipping and savoring beer that I think would pair really well with a wide range of food. Went well with black bean tacos in this case. I will definitely seek this one out again.
