Notes:
This Double IPA is created with a massive kettle charge of Australian and American hops. It opens in the glass with huge notes of ripe pineapple, pithy citrus, and dank saturated hops. As it warms it shows its depth and complexity. . . Sweet hints of malt intermingle with straight Tropicana. It has a soft but pointed bitterness and a rich, velvety mouth feel.

Beautiful looking beer. Cloudy light orange-yellowish hue.
Smells like a double Green. Bright and potent hop-infused goodness.
Honestly a little disappointed by the flavor here. I LOVE Green because of how in your face it is with its bold flavors, but I feel this one traded some of its juiciness for bitterness. Still absolutely delicious, but not as good as a fresh Green.
Body felt a little on the thinner side of TH beers, but still very soft and pleasant.
Overall... This one is a top contender. I scrutinize it because it says "Green" on the can, but let me be clear. This DIPA is another from Tree House that goes above and beyond the expected hop-saturated flavor of its "competition". Heady and Pliny are damn good DIPAs. This one has them both beat and it's #4 on my list for TH Doubles.

Poured from a 16oz can dated yesterday.
L: Pours like a tropical fruit juice with a nice, frothy white head. This seriously looks like orange juice mixed with pineapple juice. I'd honestly take the super hazy appearance over the filtered appearance all day.
S: Boy, you can tell that Tree House dumped a boatload of galaxy hops in here. Huge mango and papaya notes. There's some faint citrusy orange scents as well. The aroma is one of the most pleasant I've ever smelled.
T: These galaxy hops are quite in-your-face. I've never had a beer that was so pronounced in the galaxy hop department. Huge mango and papaya notes with some orange as well. This is also quite bitter. One of the most bitter IPAs that I can remember. This flavor profile is incredible. Definitely reminds me of an imperial Green.
F: This is a creamy, smooth beer. No alcohol to speak of. I definitely could session these beers no problem. Good thing it only comes around so often.
Overall: This is one of the best IPAs I've ever had. I think this has entered my top 5 Imperial/Double IPAs. The overload of one of my favorite hops makes for a beer drinking experience that I've never had before. Tree House is unstoppable.

Perhaps too old. Not sure. But this didn't floor me. The aroma a bit restrained and the flavor disjointed some pineapple and slightly sour citrus (bitter orange?) up front, then a micro-burst of bitter, but this finishing flat wet barley + carboard note that disrupted any reveries. Far from my favorite treehouse. Lacking brightness and definition which is often the flaw of these beers that go for too much haze and fruit. Their center of gravity is sensitive to small fluctuations in balance.
Or perhaps it's just that in the cold war of hops, the competition catches up quickly. You may be able to defend your boundaries on sours and stouts, beers that take years to make as well as large investment in wood+infrastructure where iteration to improve and incorporate trend are more difficult. But hops? Mimicry and learning is easy.

Two years ago I dropped a growler of this in the old TH parking lot. I still cry about it sometimes, for the night is full of terrors.
L: Super hazy golden orange. Nice head and sheets of lacing. Cap and ring.
S: Juicebomb pineapple and orange. Maybe some citrus peel. That's it, but so good.
T: Just as the nose would indicate, with just a touch of malt. And a touch of lime. Very neutral finish with little indication of alcohol. Could almost pass for Orangina. Almost.
F: Medium bodied, nicely carbonated to promote drying without bitterness. Construction and balance are perfect. Perfect score.
O: Vindication. So worth the wait. RIP Dropped Growler 2016-2016.

Massive hop nose of pineapple juice, dank resin, rind and pith, and some lemon zest. Very hazy appearance but not completely lost and there certainly were not chucks floating around. Super juicy, very grassy, pulling bitterness, and a pungent character that does not fade is pretty much what this beer is about. All hops on deck, this is a battle on my palate. Some warmth from the alcohol kicks in, smooth with a faintness of a malt backbone. Didn't expect much balance here to begin with, seems each sip gets better and better. Aside from the appearance which is part of the shtick here this is a really fun brew to drink.

A: Thick and turbid deep yellow/orange reminiscent of pineapple juice. Medium, soft, yellow-white head sticks around for a while, leaving thick laces of foam around the glass.
S: Insane. Possibly even more aromatic than Green. Explodes with aroma of tropical fruit--tangerine, pineapple, cantaloupe. Bit of sweet bready malt. A little bit of garlic-y herbaceousness, but the subtler notes are really overpowered by the overwhelming fruitiness.
T: First impression is recognition of the similarity to its younger sibling. It's an explosion of tropical fruit up front, but no single note really stands out from the rest--they kinda all blend together. Mid-palate, VG and Green really diverge. Instead of the delicate, perfectly balanced sweet bready malt that makes Green so special, VG features a malt backbone that is less uniquely Tree House--at least in the way it's integrated into this beer. It's definitely boozier, and it adds a sweet, almost syrupy feel to the aftertaste. The extra ~1% really comes through. All that being said, the taste is supremely world-class, with a level of tropical flavors that matches any other beer I've had.
M: Milkshake-esque. Heavy mouthfeel and perfect carbonation. Only detractor is the tinge of booze on the finish, which overstays its welcome IMO and brings with it a strong drying factor that cuts through the juiciness, thereby placing this on the lower end of my Tree House DIPA rankings.
O: The worst thing about this beer is the fact that everyone--including myself in this review--compares it to Green, which is, in my humble opinion, one of the best IPAs being brewed right now. The best thing about this beer is that like its younger sibling, it has almost everything going for it. Incredibly juicy nose showcases an assortment of citrus and tropical fruits. Ultra-creamy mouthfeel perfectly mellows an onslaught of tropical flavors. At this point, the worst part about reviewing Tree House beers is knowing what they're capable of. While I prefer Green over VG, this is one of the best DIPAs I've ever had, one that I'd gladly choose over almost any other brew in its ABV range.

The pour proves to show off the now, classic Treehouse look, opaque and thick, straw and honey colored liquid with white-haze highlights. The white foam cap is super duper thick and chunky. Intricate and clumpy white lacing sticks to the glass in multiple locations and continuesbto have a decent foamy covetage at all times.
The hoppy aromatics is about as juicy and fruity as possible ! Dense pineapple>wet grass>honeydew melon>cantalope>starfruit and a very light malty balance that has an oats and wheat scent. Some subtle vanilla and mandarin orage pops out later on. Beautifully pungent! An amazing hoppy aromal
Treehouse has a very unique approach, a certain signature with multiple unique aspects that you can always expect, like : thick, opaque, healthy appearance, super super juicy hops and light malt. In my mind this IS what the "New England Style" is all about. They set the bar(high) in my mind. Very Green has this thick and heady density to the hoppy flavor that I have not experienced before. Complexity of the dense fruity, tropical hops is simply off the charts. Layer after layer of hop tones just keep mutating and evolving with every gulp. This one showcases the big-juicy, tropical effects of the hops, honeydew melon and cantalope flavor's explode, sweet citrus with a hint of vanilla, smoooth, light golden malt has a rich, velvety oats and wheat flavor and mouthfeel. The way Treehouse makes the malt soo light, smooth and tasty is remarkable. The perfect base and balance for the juicy-ass, tropical melon explosion from these choice American and Australian hops. There is a "sweet n sour" style aftertaste from the malt that is very cream and wheat based.
Speaking of mouthfeel and texture...this is as crispy, juicy, smooth, velvety and rich as it gets! A simple light malty bite, crisp and then a bit dry, smoooth and velvety, practically full feeling finish. Only the slightest hint of the 8.3% alcohol with earthy, juicy tones that seem to be maximum volume.
Overall, Very Green is a denser, thicker version of Green. Supple but massively complex, deep rivers of hop complexity and the most lush feel you will ever get from a beer. Treehouse is changing tbe consciousness of "what is" a beer.

By for the most disappointing beer at our share. Everyone agreed there was no "very" to be found and that there wasnt notable difference between the th cans we tried (dopleganger, supersap, c29).
Not bad but nothing exceptional.
