Notes / Commercial Description:
2014 saw the creation and evolution of one of our proudest accomplishments here at Tree House: Double Shot. Over the year we often wondered how far we could push the coffee and still maintain a balanced and delightful beer. In the spirit of maintaining the integrity and refinement of the original Double Shot, we created a new base beer to withstand precisely double the coffee addition Double Shot receives to satisfy our curiosity. The result is something quite surprising and completely original! More milk chocolate than coffee, and more brown sugar than molasses, Triple Shot conveys a super unique flavor profile that explodes with complexity as it warms. The crew here tastes “straight chocolate syrup”, ”chocolate covered raspberries”, “sweet espresso”, and “chocolate Charleston Chew (seriously)”. A truly rich treat that begs to be shared - we’re psyched to shared it with YOU!

Look- poured from Treehouse 750ml into Treehouse snifter. Dark, nearly opaque stout. No head whatsoever indicating very low carbonation. Intense coffee aroma....and nothing else. Just coffee and more coffee. Mouthfeel is almost syrupy the beer is so sweet. Coffee in aroma coming in wave after wave. Intense sugariness makes it a bit chocolatey but more in the mochachino way - as coffee dominates all. Sorry I bought this. Totally one dimensional and sickeningly sweet. I won't be able to finish the 750.

750 mL growler. Black body. Smells of intense coffee. Deep and rich coffee. A little fruity. A bit nutty. Taste is almost as strong of coffee. Nutty. Rich. A little chocolatey. Medium heavy body. Intense coffee. Just enough stout to keep it good.

750ml growler poured into a snifter.

A: As black as black gets. Two fingers of brown head retain well. Foamy collars of lacing.

S: Heady coffee aroma. Fresh and intense deep-roasted beans. Chocolate covered espresso beans. Mocha. Fudge sauce. Sticky blackstrap molasses. There's some real pop on the nose, you can smell it from across the room.

T: As in the nose, intense coffee flavors own the palate. Ridiculously fresh tasting. This is wrapped in a big, sticky malt body that soon begins to meet the coffee in the middle. Sticky blackstrap molasses, hints of mocha and fudge sauce. Sugary sweetness. Roasty and smokey finish.

M: Thick and syrupy/viscous in the mouth. Coating. Fine, prickling carbonation.

O: At times it feels like the malty sweetness is about to swallow everything up and send this over the brink. It's very sweet. But the intensity of the coffee roast is able to provide just enough balance to keep it from going cloying. Tree House has really found out how to cram a ton of coffee flavor into these beers.

Tasty, but not worth the trading price.
