Notes: Julius Gone Wild (not funky wild, like insane hop saturation wild)! For the second special edition of Julius brewed specifically for the third anniversary party, we pushed the level of citrus to the fringes of obscenity through additional kettle and dry hopping with the base Julius hop blend. The result is perhaps the most juicy and delectable creation we have ever made! Preposterous Julius, in the best way imaginable.

October 2018 can release

Deeply turbid and murky appearance .. rough pour yields a significant head which dissipates quickly; leaving that signature treehouse lacing.

Smell is amazing— very aromatic orange and peach notes, with a very subtle wet earthiness , which I like!.

Taste doesn’t exactly follow the nose— this is very creamy and smooth yet only gives a hint of grapefruit/citrus pith— never really takes off into super hoppy or juicy territory, at least to my tastebuds . There’s still some citrus tang that dances on your tongue , but I’d simply classify this as a sold standard IPA

okay, there has to be a ceiling, right? i understand nothing is perfect, but how can you NOT give this 5s across the board? the head is a beautiful billowy white fluff, the aroma is sweet and juicy, the flavor is like Sunny D except smoother and the rest is, well, enough said.... got this in a 750 growler with the 'Grolsch-top". as someone else said "all 250 top beers are gonna be Treehouse"..... Pliny who? the evolution has begun!

I didn't think it was possible for treehouse to get better, but they keep stepping it up. This beer showcases that. A more hoppy, complex julius. Another th masterpiece.

This beer is everything that I wish the normal version of the beer was. Don't get me wrong, the normal version is awesome, but this one is light years ahead in terms of taste and smell. When they move to Charlton I hope that we see this one more often.

Think of JJJuliusss as simply a more hop-forward version of Julius.

Take the juicy orange creamsicle taste of the base beer, dial down its sweetness a notch, then introduce a noticeable hop bitterness to its flavor profile.

Time to review this 750 of JJJUILIUSSS from Treehouse

A- orange opaque presence that looks like a creamsicle dreamsicle frothy beverage. Literal lumps of fluffy head layer the top of the brew and the sides too. Glowing body within the glass and perhaps the most unique look I've ever scene for a brew

S- an orange themed boutique that is accompanied with mango, Papaya, and most of all the pulpy oj that was served at the rare times I had breakfast as a child. The scent profile buries pine and resin themes 6 feet underground. This stands alone as such a unique scent profile.... But I still love my hop scents of pine and resin. The malt theme is non existent and I love that

T- what an impeccable orange juice flavor profile. Soupy and coating flavor laces my mouth. Pulpy oranges, tangerines, melons, and orange creamsicle flavors abduct your palate all while slapping it in the face with momma's old fashioned orange soup! Ok i know that doesn't exist but that's the theme. Again, it's treehouse and it's unique. I just can't get over the taste profile. While I prefer my DIPAS as a Shaun Hill all citric hop profile... This is something different and delicious

M- coating soupy flavor that's unprecedented. Sooooooo soft

O- there is nothing like JJJuiliuSSS in this earth from any other brewer. An OJ milkshake that is incredibly enjoyable

First batch 2015/06/01
Second batch 2016/06/10

Review is for the second batch. This is all I have in notes for the first:

"Just look at that deep dark, hazy appearance. So rich, so juicy, and the extra dry hopping gives it a more robust dank element. Julius+"

Now, onto the in-depth review!

L - pours a thick, solid, juicy-looking block of pure murk. Hazy doesn't quite describe it. Turbid. This is OJ with pulp. Dark and murky at the bottom of the glass, slowly transitioning into a mellow golden orange as the light tries its darnedest to penetrate as deep is it can (not very deep). Reminds me of attempting to shine a flashlight through my palm. You get some glow, yet not much. But it looks as cool as can be.

S - from the initial crack PSSHHT of the can and into the pour, huge sticky aromas of mango and orange abound. While Alter Ego tends toward the dankness, JJJULIUSSS packs in the sticky sweet, overripe, candied fruit juice deliciousness. Bright, yet deeply penetrating. I can feel it in the back of my throat. Earthy and pungent. Primal.

T - this is one of those beers that makes you take a step back and look at your glass in disbelief. Absurd to anybody watching. The lively, bright, and vivid nature that makes Julius Julius is still there in full force, but with a backbone from the beer gods. Robust support structures of deeply rooted mango and pineapple life this one up above the rest. Julius just seems somehow... thin compared to this. Commandingly sweet, yet delicately balanced bitterness and flavors of orange, tangerine, nectarine, satsuma, mandarin... you name it! Bam sha-pow! A tropical bouquet of candied fruit, juice, fresh citrus, and a pointed bitterness to round it all out. Passionfruit and guava. So many flavors. So much flavor!

F - as always, Tree House delivers with the soft, pillowy goods. Lush and creamy, full-bodied and low carb, which melds well with the tingling bitterness. Other TH offerings may have better mouthfeels due to higher alcohol content, but this one suits this fantastic beer just fine.

O - this is the beer I wanted King Julius to be. KJ certainly is awesome, but it gets too galaxy heavy and the flavor starts to take a backseat to the overwhelming taste of pure hops and booze. This... this retains all that flavor and kicks the alcohol down a notch to bring out even more flavor. The drinkability is insane. I had this once before last year after the 3rd anniversary party and it blew my mind over AE and regular Julius. I just had to make sure it wasn't a fluke. My Untappd check-in describes it perfectly: "Julius+"

Brewed to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the first experimental Julius being brewed; growler filled on 6/11/16 and drank in a Tree House teku the same day while watching the USMNT play Paraguay in the Copa; another awesome Tree House beer, for my palate is definitely a clear step up from the base version

Alright you hyped-up sumbitch let's see what you got.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a tulip glass. Can is 3 days old.

Pours an opaque deep burnt orange color with a fat finger of white head. The head lingers around like a good road trip fart, leaving a nice crown of sticky, cobweb lacing before eventually settling into a thin film.

The aroma is basically Julius on steroids: Mangoes out the arse, orange pith, grapefruit flesh, honeydew melon, and a subtle kiss of pine on the back end. Dumb. Just dumb.

The flavor is a mango truck being shoved down your throat and you like it. It tastes more like mangoes than an actual mango. There's also a ton of candied orange, orange pith, grapefruit, tangerine, and honeydew melon. The finish is ever so subtly bitter with a touch of pine and citric acid. Pants-on-head stupid.

The feel is medium-full bodied with soft carbonation. Very pillowy and creamy; fluffy even. Absolutely perfect.

Overall, I've once again had the Tree House hype train run on me. I came into this saying "it won't be as good as OG Julius" but it very much is. It's better. There might be a day when I stop stroking the proverbial Tree House wang, but it is not this day. This one exceeds the hype.

So at this rate the entire top 250 is going to be Tree House beers - with half of them being Julius variants lol! But dammit if they aren't all delicious. This rendition to me tasted not too much different from the standard Dr. J, but that's not much of a complaint since it's one of my favorite IPAs out there.

God this is good. Orange rind on the coloration, such orange zest on the nose. Orange and Mango coat the palate like julius, but jjj does it in a much more full way. Much more full bodied than the classic, but doesn't quite pack the punch that KJ does. It's a very nice balance. Excellent beer.

The Hype train is strong with this brewery.. This beer was overall very average and disappointing considering the long lines. I honestly think people opinions of Tree House beer gets skewed from the Monson days, It has to be good it's TH, truth is since Monson their beers are very average and others have caught up and passed them by. They clearly are out for the money and that's it's, where are the sours, BA stuff, farmhouse ales, etc. Their stouts have been great but even those seem very similar, I'm guessing they use the same base malts, same yeast with some maple here and some PB there. They don't seem to have any originality and really create something different.. Ride that train while you can I guess.
