Bright - NelsonBright - Nelson
Notes: This batch of Bright was crafted to be a clean and elegant showcase for the notoriously awesome hop from New Zealand, Nelson Sauvin! It is crafted with a simple malt bill and fermented with clean American Ale yeast to create a flavor profile that is more a function of its vibrant fresh ingredients than an expression of yeast character. Bright w/Nelson’s aroma is a bounty of fresh citrus, grapefruit pith, and sauvignon blanc wine. The taste follows suit with notes of white wine, grapefruit and crushed gooseberry with a gentle earthy finish. She is dry, soft, and adequately bittered resulting in a very approachable intense Double IPA.. classic and delicious! Nelson!!

Sampling a cold 16 oz can into my snifter. The beer pours a cloudy gold color with creamy bleached white head that almost overflows my glass. The foam slowly recedes to a sturdy edge layer and a shallow surface layer. The foam leaves sticky lattice on my glass.
The aroma is some white grape and wine with a little bit of grapefruit and some mild hints of biscuity malt that are buried by the hops.
The first sip reveals very fine carbonation and a smooth textured beer. The body is medium and the finish is very dry.
Flavor is a bit of biscuity malt and then lots of white grape and a bit of grapefruit. I dont get any booze on the sampling and I am hit with a bit of bitter hops on the finish. This bitterness lingers a bit but doesnt go completely astringent.
I find the beer easier to drink and definitely not a juice bomb like a lot of TH brews.
I like this Bright variant as I find it more of a traditional DIPA with some bitterness coming through. Im glad I scored some cans of this one, but could see how some people wouldnt like the bite.

Thanx to rudzud, canned 10/04/17

Pours a rich foamy slight creamy head fades semi slowly, some sticky lacing, hazy murky blond orange color

Nose big bright tropical fruit, little grassy floral, bright pineapple and musty tropical papaya like, dank pine, but little musty vinous grape, citrus, little creamy wheat and malt

Taste big hops, tropical fruit little pineapple and papaya, citrus orange tangerine zest, creamy wheat soft mouth, candied tangerine, little white grape skin but musty, then white wine and grape juice, and a little spicy.

Mouth is med bod soft creamy mouth, nice fluffy carb

Overall pretty nice, some of the Nelson I expected, and some not expected but still nice.

Picked this up at the brewery. Somehow I haven't managed to have this one yet. Weird.

A - Poure dinto my Duvel tulip a nice hazy light gold hue with a good fat one finger creamy white head that fades slwoly to leave a dense, creamy blanket and nice lacing.

S - Aromas of musty Nelson hops galore. Some floral and light citrus notes, very nice white wine/white grape aroma as well. Decent crackery notes as well.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. Very pleasant clean Nelson hops. Nice floral grassy notes with grapefruit flesh and peel. Little bit of musty white grapes with a little bit of a spicy earthy finish. Nicely balanced with the malts.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, lightly crisp. Doesn't quite have the body as most of their other hoppy offerings though.

O - Overall this was a solid offering from Tree House. Nelson is very well done here without being super aggressive. Very clean and well executed.

I'm a sucker for Nelson and this one didn't disappoint. From a local standpoint, this puts Coriolis (Nebco) to the test. Awesome beer. Wish I had more:/

Poured from can into tulip, good 3 finger cream colored soapy head, great retention and lacing. Bright slightly opaque yellow in the glass. Smells like the name, getting bright citrus, lemon, minerality. Taste is initially sweet malt, some citrus in the middle, and finishes with a very mild grapefruit pith bitterness. Semi dry finish, very soft, juicy mouthfeel.

On tap at the brewery. Side to side with Bright w/ Citra. More bitter, darker.

Canned 6/23 .

Nelson aroma is very strong on this one. Perhaps a little too much. This is a very well made beer, but it my opinion it pales to the original. This is a very hard beer to finish that comes nowhere close to Alpine Nelson, which is a better representation of the NZ hop.

It ranks near the bottom on my TH ipa list. That being said, if you love Nelson (really love it) you might be blown away by this beer. But to me the Mosaic original version is better in every way
