Notes:
This batch of Double Shot was crated in commemoration of the 500th brew on our 30 BBL Brewhouse in Monson. It was brewed not only to mark this celebratory occasion, but with character of the current season in mind. Incorporating a blend of our favorite Indonesian and Colombian coffees, Batch 500 pours pitch black and decadently in the glass, emanating flavors and aromas of milk chocolate, dark fruit, and coffee mousse. It is wonderful and rich; perfect to enjoy as a digestive after a big holiday dinner. It is, in our opinion, an example of what is possible with careful selection of ingredients paired with focused brewing execution. Please enjoy this bottle fresh and use it as an opportunity to reflect on your own cherished moments.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip. Coffee mousse, great mouthfeel, roasty and well-balanced. One of the best non-BA stouts I have had the pleasure to drink.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle.
The pour is pitch black, with about a finger of caramel head. The head settles into a thin film that rests atop the beer, leaving a beautiful golden ring of lacing as it dissipates.
The aroma is absolutely incredible. There are waves of baker's chocolate, chocolate milk, and dark chocolate. Then comes the freshly roasted coffee beans. Finishes with some faint molasses and a subtle kiss of cinnamon.
The taste starts sweet, with an atomic amount of milk chocolate, followed by some fig and dark cherries. The middle offers a touch of caramel before the explosion of dark roast coffee. Like the aroma, the flavor finishes with a faint hint of cinnamon spice.
The feel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. Very creamy and smooth with a dry finish. The alcohol is well hidden but still warms the tongue after each sip.
Overall, I mean really. When you not only take IPA's to the next level but take every other style there as well, you know you are doing something right. Tree House continues to amaze with everything they do. This batch takes the original Double Shot, which is already a world-class stout, and makes it more decadent, more full, adding more chocolate and letting the coffee sit in the passenger seat for a while. It's like drinking a meal in a glass. This is a beautiful beer that I will take my sweet ass time enjoying.

This was one hell of a beer. Absolutely one of the best coffee stouts I've tried. Comes out of gate smooth and rich and continues that way throughout - a real depth of coffee and chocolate flavour. I really lucked out having a bottle of this brought to me from a friend's travels.

Poured inky black with a rich clingy chocolate brown head into a chalice. Tons of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt in the aroma. Taste is sweet with plenty of licorice and fleeting coffee bitterness that gets pushed aside by the malt sweetness. Medium mouthfeel was pleasantly refreshing and, along with no trace of the 8.6 abv, made this a surprisingly drinkable beer. Overall, it is fantastic. It is one of the better stouts I have ever had. The only thing I would even come close to considering a weakness of this beer is that a tiny bit more bitterness could have helped balance out the sweetness. But again, this is still easily in my top 5 all time favorite stouts. No surprise from Tree House. They keep producing liquid gold.

Didn't even realize this was a special batch until I got home and saw the fancy silver label! A full percent more alcohol too? Yes please.
L - one of the most robust and downright decadent-looking beers I've ever poured. Thick, syrupy motor oil as it's draining out of the bottle and settling pitch black. But the head... far and away the best part about how it looks. I've never seen this before: there are two layers of head! The bottom is coursely bubbled and a dark chocolatey mocha color. But there's a thin layer on top that's bone white with real fine bubbles. Almost like a whipped cream topping! They stay separated for a surprisingly long time before blending together for an iced coffee two creams two sugars tan. Beautiful lacing is almost painted on the glass. Shit that's amazing.
S - German chocolate cake and fudge brownies. Bittersweet dark chocolate with a strong cacao presence. Molasses and brown sugar.
T - wew boy, now that's booze! Cleans the sinuses right out, clearing a path for gushing flavor of roasty black coffee, espresso, and chocolate syrup. There are some dark fruits in there, but heavily candied. Cherries, earthy figs, and raisins. But this all takes a back seat to the overwhelmingly decadent dessert flavors. Fresh minty licorice, cereal grains, and holiday spices, mostly cinnamon and nutmeg.
F - not too heavy as the look and taste would suggest, but goddamn is it smooth. Like bedding a cloud. Liquified my mind-blowingly luxurious cat and injected it straight into this beer. The way this beer tantalizingly hovers on my tongue and glides sensually in between my teeth and down my throat... I'll be in my bunk.
O - probably the best Double Shot variation yet. 4th anniversary was fantastic, but this has more pizazz. The extra ABV does it good. Robust in all the right places!
