Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.90%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Curiosity Thirty Eight was imagined as a beer fit for discovery with an intense hop saturation yet light drinking presentation. Fermented with our classic house yeast and imparted with character from a blend of our favorite Vic Secret, Galaxy, and Citra hops, it exhibits flavors and aromas of passion fruit , juicy pineapple, and mango. A soft body and ample mouthfeel contribute to a beer that is both well rounded and extremely flavorful. We hope it can serve as a valuable companion to personal discovery.

L - another label in this series, this time with hot air balloons. Pours a dark turbid orange. Lotta haze; doesn't let much on the way of light through. Big fluffy head that sticks around.

S - green onions and the dank. Honestly smells a bit like Doppelgänger. Toasted orange peel and earthy passion fruit. Slight pine fresheness.

T - initial punch of mango creamsicle, but it seems dry. There is a spicy breadiness that lingers over every flavor. I really wanna say mosaic, but Tree House says it is not so... Kinda reminds me of Alter Ego before they tweaked the recipe to make it a sweet, sticky juice bomb. Pronounced bitterness that hangs out long after the sip. Interspersed within the spicy zest are flavors of soft vanilla and peach.

F - as usual, creamy and meaty. Low, creeping carbonation.

O - not the greatest Curiosity, but it's hard to find fault with most Tree House beers. There is slight imbalance between the juice and spice, as well as the bitterness, but all aspects are good on their own.

A: Deep orange. Dark w minimal translucence. Thick, pulped up OJ. Frothy white head, tight and pillowy. Typical TH.

S: Dank in the vein of Green. Fresh green herbs (think: basil, cilantro) and citrus pith. Lots of earthy passionfruit, but not so tangy like its flesh. Not much by way of sweet tropical, which I'd expect given hop combo. Little less pungent than what I've come to expect from TH at this ABV, but you don't exactly have to dig for much..

T: Passionfruit comes through big time up front. Sweet mango juice follows with a Lights On-esque cracker quality and that signature Green herb bouquet. More than in Green, the herbal/dank character is a little spicy n more bitter here, like someone sprinkled some peppercorns and cumin on the bouquet. Finishes is a mindfuck as out of the bready/green mid-taste comes an onslaught of sweet peach/pineapple cream carried by the house yeast.

M: Nice soft feel, creamy as per usual. A bit more bitter than most TH brews--reminds me of the bitterness of Green, but without the sweetness to balance things out until the very end of the taste.

O: Not sure why this one isn't getting more love... Complex and variegated in its flavor profile, I really enjoy this hop combo. Nose is a bit confusing (maybe Vic Secret is throwing muddling the sweet/tropical aromatics I'd expect from Galaxy/Citra). I think the sharper, more pronounced bitterness may be throwing some people off, but it's really manageable and mellows quite a bit as the liquid warms. If you love Green, you will likely the similar aspects in this beer.
