Notes / Commercial Description:
Single Shot is our rich and beautifully balanced coffee stout made this time with a decadent single origin coffee - Burundi Jean Clement! It pours a dense black color the glass unleashing a fluffy, mocha-like head. We experience flavors and aromas of bittersweet chocolate, coffee ice cream, and a hint of dark candy syrup. Single Shot - Burundi Jean Clement is exceptionally dense and rich on the palate while maintaining a airiness that leaves you wanting more… Burundi coffees have historically produced some of our favorite Single and Double Shot batches, and this representation is no exception - a true treat in the can paired with the embrace a late season winter storm.

In today's world this is an average stout. Pours black in glass with a nice airy head, has medium body, to me it lacks the creamy smoothness and body of some other stouts.

Poured on tap at the brewery.

Pours a near pitch black with a finger of creamy mocha head. The head sticks around for a while, leaving a nice ring of lacing as the head dissipates.

The aroma brings notes of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, pecans and roasted malts.

The taste brings a fair amount of dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, and sweet cream before an earthy, roasted pecan note comes through.

The body is rather thin, with moderate carbonation. Very drinkable but lacks the creamy character expected of the style.

Overall, a pretty good milk stout but one that is exceptionally disappointing given the name it represents. Still, very drinkable and has plenty of nice flavors.

Thanks to rudzud for hooking me up with this, Canned 3/02/18

Pours a big fluffy pillowy creamy 1 finger mocha head that retains forever, lots of lacing, pitch black beer

Nose freshly roasted smooth mild roast coffee, a bit nutty, faint spicy coffee, fudgey dark chocolate malts, roasted grain notes, a bit toasty and some caramel, creamy lactose

Taste brings thick lush coffee milk, a bit fudgey cocoa, mild roasted coffee fresh roast, a bit nutty and roasty, charred grains too, lactose sugars and burnt milk, caramel, creme brulee without the sweetness, mild sweetness, toasted grains and fresh toasted coffee beans. Finishes drier, touch of bitterness, lingering chocolate milk and mild coffee

Mouth is med to fuller bod, soft creamy lush, nice carb, no alcohol.

Overall a pretty nice beer, like the double shots more, but still a nice beer. Coffee was also pretty subtle but I guess they need that to balance it.

16 oz can from March 2018 release. Poured cold into my snifter. The beer pours motor oil dark brown with creamy tan head of 2 cm with a gentle pour. The foam fades to a sturdy edge layer that gives some sparse lattice after each sip. The aroma is a large dose of coffee and roasted malt. I also get some sweet brown sugary milk chocolate notes. No hops and any booze is also completely hidden. The texture is ultra smooth, and creamy with very fine and slightly tingly carbonation.
The physical traits on this are pretty amazing and make me happy to have this beer.
Flavor is again all malt, milk chocolate and some coffee notes and some brown sugar again. A sweet beer but not cloying and again any hops dont show up in this sampling. The ABV is also hidden and this beer while fairly thick texture is actually sort of crushable.
Im really digging this beer and Im glad to have had this one. Im going to do the Brazil Cerrado next!

Pretty similar to the Human Condition, just less adjuncts. I actually enjoyed this more because of the simplicity. Just straight coffee on the nose and dark roast and chocolate in taste. It’s thinner than Double Shot, but otherwise it’s tastes pretty similar. Try it if you can!

Canned 3/2/18, Enjoyed 3/13/18. Acquired in a trade for OH/Monkish Collab. Poured vigorously into gold balloon.

Look: Jet black, not syrupy, silky smooth, well blended, no sediment. Dark tan foam that builds nicely, minimal lacing.
Smell: Fresh and crisp roasted malts, very refreshing, light and creamy. Alcohol comes through as it warms.
Taste: sweet coffee beans and chocolate are the in forefront, nice creamy aftertaste, almost nutty, marshmallows.
Feel: High acidity upfront, minimal carbonation on the tongue, very smooth and drinkable. Sour/citrus afterbite.
Overall: I could drink this all day. It opens up beautifully and is really refreshing, even at room temperature. It starts off a bit heavy and creamy but opens up to an almost citrus coffee that is extremely memorable.
