Notes: AAAlterrr Ego is a rendition of Alter Ego that utilizes additional kettle and dry hops to amplify and intensify the flavor profile of Alter Ego! Further, we alter the base beer in many ways throughout the brewing process to accept the additional hop charges. The result here is one that is exceptionally fruity and delicious. Layers of tropical fruit, mango, and stone fruit are presented here with a freshness and purity that is genuinely unique and exciting to our palate! We are in love with this beer

Consumed 10/1/18

A: Golden orange with some medium orange at its core and gold around the edges - turbid and hazy - pours with a small, off white head, fades to virtually nothing but retains a small collar and leaves some spots of lacing

S: Tropical fruit juice - as advertised, this definitely reminiscent of Alter Ego but with the volume cranked up a few notches - notes of citrus, with some fresh-squeezed orange juice and notes of grapefruit - tons of tropical notes, with mango dominating, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya as well - some notes of white grape - some hints of straight-up hops underneath the tropical notes, with some herbal notes, some tropical pine tree Mosaic weirdness - fresh peaches - some slight malt sweetness at the base

T: Yup, tropical fruit juice - to some extent this kind of tastes like eating a cup of mixed fruit where the fruit has been sitting for a bit so each fruit kind of tastes like the other fruit - orange, grapefruit, peach, apricot, white grape, mango, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, and maybe even a squirt of lime - decidedly ridiculous - low bitterness - some herbal and slightly earthy hops, with some dry tropical pine - maybe some pale grain and malt at the base, but it's hard to detect anything but fruit

M: Medium body, smooth and chewy, finishes with some residual hop roughness

O: It's fruit salad

Alter Ego was one of the first Tree House beers I ever had, and I gave it quite a high score when I reviewed it in 2015. AAAlterrr Ego is the type of beer that you could have someone try and be entirely sure that it would elicit a "wow" reaction. But is it an improvement over Alter Ego because it's fruitier? I think it loses some detail in the noise of the fruit. But yes, it's awesome.

Thanks to rudzud for picking this up, canned 7/11

Pours a large frothy creamy foamy 1+ finger head that fades at a slow pace, a bit of soapy lacing, murky hazy dark orange color

Nose brings lots of citrus and tropical but a bit dank and rindy which fades quickly, soft juicy citrus, mango, papaya, a bit of a nectarine tangerine peach, a bit of a soft creamy wheat/oat flaked malt base

Taste starts with cereal grains, toasted bread, a little cracker but soft pillowy, flaked wheat/oats thing, into soft creamy juicy hops, juicy citrus, generic citrus but a little underripe orange, like a half green orange and tangerine nectarine and a bit of a peachy stone fruit, some juicy mango, a bit of mango skin, pithy, some generic tropical, mango increases as it warms and moves towards the finish, which dries a bit, touch of bitterness, nice big mango, like dried mango fruit and a bit of mango juice lingering, with some peach as well

Mouth is med bod, fair soft juicy and creamy, decent carb

Overall mixed, nose was not as strong as I expected it to be mostly due to the dankness and flashed early on, taste started OK but not great, but finished really nice with loads of mango and peach, so I def like it, but there are better Tree House beers.

Picked up some cans of these at the brewery.

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice hazy dark orange slightly gold hue with a big creamy two finger head that fades to leave decent lacing and a creamy blanket.

S - Aromas of some decent citrus notes, orange, flashes of mango and stonefruit. Citrus becomes more juicy and just slightly bitter. Little bready as well.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, nice slightly bitter citrus peel, not much in the real of tropical fruits. Maybe flashes of pineapple. No real stonefruit either. As it warms there is just a little bit of peach on the aftertaste. Other than that it is mostly the usual citrus qualities with very, very faint bitterness.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, medium body, fluffy, spot on for Tree House.

O - Overall this was a solid IPA from Tree House, though I am not so sure it is really an improvement to regular Alter Ego. I look at this almost like Grrreennn in that some times the original is good enough as is without the need to be tweaked and played with to create an exponent of itself.

Sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into my snifter. The beer is from July 2018 and has been in my fridge since purchase. Beer pours a murky goldenrod color with almost no light passing through the glass.
A spongey bleached white head of 2 cm foams up on a gentle pour and slowly recedes to the surface of the beer.
Very tight lattice remains on the sides of my glass as the foam recedes.
The aroma is a mix of mango and apricots with a little bit of orange mixing in for good measure.
First sip reveals an average body with crisp texture. Very fine and tingly carbonation rolls across my palate on each sip.
The flavor is similar to the nose with lots of fruit notes. Again mango and orange flavors come through with just a bit of the pithy bitter notes from citrus fruit as well. There is a bit of grapefruit coming through here too. The finish lingers a little bit with fruit notes and just a bit of bite. I dont get any hints of ABV as I drink this brew and find it to be an enjoyable new england IPA. Glad to have had a can.

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Tree House Brewing Company, Charlton, MA
Served in a Tree House teku

Outstanding appearance. The cloudy, orangey-yellow body was capped by a rocky, two-inch tall, off-white crown that slowly dropped to a lasting, bubbly crown. Large, odd-shaped patches of thick, drippy lacing stuck all along the glass.

The aroma was amazingly fruity and bold. Stone fruits dominated initially. Big ripe mango, peach and apricot notes. Quite sweet, but in a completely natural, fruity way. Some honeydew melon appeared as the beer sat. Citrus notes were detectable too. Orange and tangerine specifically.

Citrus fruits came through big time in the flavor profile. Loads of juicy orange and tangy tangerine. Really crisp and bright. Tart, wheaty and lemony in the center. Bit of pineapple too. Somewhat yeasty. White grapefruit notes appeared as the beer moved along the palate. A fair amount of rind-like pith and bitterness came through in the finish.

The mouthfeel was spectacular. Creamy, plush and pillowy soft. Medium bodied for the style. The liquid contained an ultra fine, fairly zippy carbonation that fluffed up beautifully on the palate.

Aaalterrr Ego is one of the more impressive of the Tree House “stutter series” IPAs that I have tried to date. This beer is amazingly fruity and bright and exhibits the signature pillowy soft Tree House mouthfeel that people go crazy over. I would definitely make a point to seek this out again.

Pours a cloudy orange-gold color with an ecru 2 finger dense head what leaves spotty lacing.

Aroma is intense with a complex mix of mango and citrus and some sharp floral liquor notes.

Taste is just as intense - I mean as much hop flavor as you can think of in a beer without having a green burn to it. Orange juice and blossom, mango, with a finish that turns moderately bitter.

Feel is very soft and smooth with a bit of seltzer.

This is just amazingly well done, kind of a masterpiece of the style I think. I'm psyched to be able to try it... now I want more. Why did I not get more!!

Picked-up six cans at the Tree House Brewery in Charlton for about four dollars. My fifty second brew from these guys. Very solid brew, in the top tier of TH brews for me.

This one was pretty good but maybe I expected a little more from Tree House? 2/12/20 date printed on can. Pours a hazy yellow color with some great looking fluffy white head and small soapy rings of lingering lacing. Smells of fresh ripe papaya, grapefruit, tangerine, mango, pineapple and melon. Also some malt, creamy vanilla, floral hops and a little biscuit. Taste follows the nose, good balance and decent hoppy bite, juicy and flavorful. Smooth soft mouthfeel with good carbonation. Overall still a great NE style IPA, but I've definitely had better (not just from Tree House).

Pours hazy, orange brown in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is apricots, tangerine, and wet hops. Medium bodied, low carbonation, and slightly bitter. Still get the dankness of Alter Ego but way more smooth. Prefer this way more than the original, which is my least favorite of Tree House's regulars. Heavier body and a bit more flavor. Will get this again.

**After 3 weeks this is pure orange/tangerine sherbet...One of the rare ipas that really improves with age...Was great fresh, not so much a week amazing.
