We are excited to welcome a new member of the Tree House Imperial Milk Stout Family - I Will Not Be Afraid! Brewed with an assortment of chocolate, roasted, and pale malts and carefully dosed with cacao and coffee, I Will Not Be Afraid is an immensely enjoyable Tree House Imperial Milk Stout. We taste intense syrupy dark chocolate, caramelized candy sugar, chocolate covered espresso beans, and a hint of cherry cola. This beer is luxurious and silky, like chocolate clouds, yet never relies on an overly saccharine complexion to bring out the intense and complex flavors we have worked so diligently to impart. We welcome you to enjoy it by the fireplace as we head into the cooler New England seasons.

Updated description from the Tree House website: “I Will Not Be Afraid is an Imperial Milk Stout brewed with chocolate and coffee. For this beer, we craft a rich and complex malt base featuring US, UK, and German chocolate, caramel, and roasted malts. An ample addition of chocolate and a kiss of coffee results in a beer that is loaded with fluffy and dense Swiss chocolate character. As it warms deeper complexities emerge, including dark candy sugar and cacao nib flavor notes. If you love chocolate, you will love this beer.” Delicious for sure!

16oz. can into a Founders snifter. Shared with schen9303.
Beer looks great. Pours dense and rich. Thick, oily legs with spotty, stringy lace. A ring of mocha for a head. Nose is chocolate, iced coffee, sweet cream, and sweetened mocha. Plenty aromatic with that nice lactose freshness. Beer opens chocolate, molasses, fudge, and iced mocha. Sweet, sweet, sweet. Vanilla and sweet cream in the middle amp up the sugar even more. Lactose creaminess and more chocolate and vanilla syrup towards the back. Too sweet for me. This is missing the coffee and cocoa bitterness component for balance. Body is full with low carbonation. Oily and chewy on the palate and goes down warm, rich, and messy. Long, lingering aftertaste.
The flavor is just not there with this one. As with many of TH's stouts recently, entirely too sweet.

10 months old. Can to tumbler.
L: Pours pitch black with neither head nor lacing. No floaters visible.
S: Roasty and malty with notes of dark chocolate and some nutty hints. Slightly sweet.
T: Tastes much sweeter than it smells. Milk chocolate meets caramel fudge, candied peanuts and hints of black coffee. Slightly bitter finish.
F: Creamy, oily and sticky. Very low carbonation. Drinks quite smoothly.
O: A bit too sweet for my taste, but still a great stout. Definitely a very well executed beer beer with a nice complexity and a very smooth mouthfeel.
