We are pleased to introduce Abstraction - an Imperial Porter brewed with the approaching cooler seasons in mind! Utilizing a sturdy base of Chocolate, Caramel, and Roasted malts and gently hopped with Warrior, Abstraction presents with flavors and aromas of chocolate syrup, fudge, and creamy coffee. It calls to mind an evening spent around the fire with friends or loved ones or a hearty meal featuring seasonal produce. At Tree House we strive to make beers that are a true joy to drink all the way through a full glass. With bold flavors created by characterful malts from the USA & Germany, a hearty mouthfeel, and a smooth and creamy finish, Abstraction adheres to that ethos beautifully. This beer should age well when kept cold in the refrigerator for 4 - 6 months and can be enjoyed throughout the coming cooler months.

Picked-up two cans at the Tree House Brewery in Charlton for about five dollars. My forty sixth brew from these guys. Like porters, but usually stick to IPAs. This was very good. Don't sleep on TH non-IPAs.

16 oz can poured into a snifter. Pours pitch black with a thin tan head. Aroma and flavor feature bitter roasted malts, slight astringency, a surprising amount of acidity (like harsh black coffee), and dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and fairly smooth for the abv. Overall, it's got a variety of flavors going on but what would really make it better is lower acidity. It almost but not quite comes across as sour.

Too much coffee I taste no chocolate at all. This imperial Porter is just OK.

Decanted from a 16 oz (473 ml) can into a pint-sized, Tree House Willi Becher glass; canned 11/10/20, code BE FRESH.
A: Pours dark brown color with a one finger, light tan head that dissipates rapidly to rim with little or no lacing.
S: Aromas of sweetened black coffee, dark chocolate and cola
T: Sweet. Flavors mirror the nose closely. Bitterness offsets the sweetness.
M: Medium bodied with low effervescence. Very easy drinking.
O: This might be my favorite example of the style. Drinks like a soda, but at 9.0% ABV, packs a wallop.

Canned 11/10/20, tasted 1/31/21. Really loved this beer, and the colorful, geometric Tree House logo on the can was gorgeous too! One of my favorite porters ever - to my palate, this strikes the perfect balance that a porter should bring to the table: richness and sweetness with some crisp and bitter roastiness to match. That dark chocolate, almost cherry flavor in the middle rides that perfect line without becoming cloyingly sweet or unpleasantly bitter. I could see TH doing some interesting things with a raspberry version of this - it seems like the perfect base for that...

A: Pours a near pitch black color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a thin cap

S: Roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, light cocoa, caramel, and a touch of dark fruit

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the roasted malt, dark chocolate, definitely more dark fruit than the nose let on, bitter roast coffee, and some caramel. Picks up some very light cocoa and some earthy hop notes. Finishes with lingering roast

M: Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A very nice robust porter that is on the easier side to drink, despite the heavy malt and 9%. Quite complex in the absence of adjuncts, too. Worth a drink
