Abstraction - VanillaAbstraction - Vanilla
Notes: We are so excited to introduce Abstraction Vanilla! This batch of our Imperial Porter was conditioned atop copious amounts of Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla beans. The result is a beer that is in perfect harmony, with rich cocoa flavors meshing seamlessly with decadent vanilla character. To us, it invokes the same character as fresh baked chocolate chocolate chip cookies. Through careful selection of ingredients and experienced brewing execution we are able to construct Abstraction - a beacon of balance, elegance, and authenticity of flavor. It should keep well in the fridge for 4 - 6 months and can be enjoyed all autumn and winter.

Pours an extremely dark brown with a thin tan head that settles to a ring and left minimal lacing g. Smells and tastes of milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla, roasted malts, brown sugar toffee. Medium bodied, light to medium carbonation, mouth feel is creamy and a bit of artificial vanilla on the finish.

Pours black with a finger and a half of caramel-colored foam. Head retention is decent. Aroma is roasty, toasty malts with the back end being consumed by vanilla bean. Vanilla bean comes off a little artificial, but not much. There is a light toffee quality as well. Flavor profile is roasted and toasted malts with whispers of vanilla bean, toffee, and caramel. Vanilla is a fragment of the flavor profile, but more of a quantifiable percentage of the aroma. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a velvety, grainy texture that attempts to push this beer into a thicker drinking category. Overall, a solid porter with vanilla, although the vanilla notes are weak beyond the aroma.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 16oz can.

L - guh-roovy label. Pours brown with a cherry cola-hued head. Brown and molasses-y.

S - bright spices a la cinnamon and nutmeg. Two creams, two sugars in my coffee. Burnt malts and toasted grains.

T - bitey and roasty. Burnt coffee grounds and the unmistakable acidic bitterness of vanilla beans. Some will say this isn't the vanilla they were expecting, but this is raw, natural vanilla coffee. Unsweetened with a crisp finish. Baker's chocolate and brown sugar to round out the roast, accompanied by a neutral finish.

F - again, light and easy-going for an 8.8%-er. Creamy and satisfying, but I wish it had more heft!

O - I can appreciate the raw, unadulterated vanilla bean here, but it does lack the kick we were all expecting. Heavy on the burnt beans, this would make an excellent Sunday morning coffee.

sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into a snifter. The beer is part of a recent trade with @oldlady, thank you!
The beer pours a dark cola brown color and no light passes through my glass. A fizzy tan head foams up 1 cm and rapidly fades to nothing soon after the pour fills my glass.
The aroma is roasted malt and some coffee grounds and almost a little bit of a burnt note. I dont get very much vanilla on the nose which is a little surprising to me.
The first sip reveals an average body with very fine and tingly carbonation. The texture is a little slick on each swallow but does coat my palate. Pretty easy drinking physical traits.
Flavor is what the nose advertises but with a little more sweetness. I get roasted malt, milk chocolate, some coffee grounds and a nice dose of vanilla in the middle. This rolls back to the milk chocolate sweetness that lingers on each swallow.
I dont get any hops on this beer and I also the alcohol is very well hidden too.
I enjoy this beer and am glad to have tried this one. I do wish the vanilla was a little more prevalent on the nose and the body was a little bigger, but this is a good beer.

Picked up at the brewery and shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark brown almost black with a thin mocha head that fades to leave light wisps.

S - Aromas of almost wet cardboard, roasted malts, coffee roast, super faint vanilla.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with nice roasted malts, dark bitter roast, good coffee as well. The vanilla is on the fainter side still. Almost perfume like.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, body is decent, creamy.

O - Overall this was a solid enough stout, but still really aggressively roasted and the vanilla was almost non-existent.

Big thanks to rudzud
Pours a decent foamy thicker mocha head, very little retention and some lacing, light legs, pitch black beer

Nose think fudgey dark chocolate, a touch of vanilla but barely, a little toasted cookie biscuit, caramel, doughy, plenty of roast

Taste big dark chocolate fudgey cocoa, caramel, candy, mild biscuity cookie water, toasted malt, but plenty of over toasted malt too, faint malted milk ball, a very mild vanilla again almost nothing, a little lactose milk chocolate ice cream, little bitterness on the back end, little acrid roast

Mouth is full bod, creamy rich chewy thicker, decent carb, no alcohol

Overall eh, not that bad but there are much better out there, really wish the vanilla was more

Subtle vanilla, a little heat from the bourbon, some char and black licorice. Neither smooth and smoky but pretty balanced overall. I preferred the coffee variant but this was a little more unique

Super smooth Imperial Porter - similar to a KBS, but without the coffee bitterness. Very smooth and well balanced mouthfeel and good complexity with the addition of vanilla.
