Notes: This Tree House Imperial IPA was brewed to celebrate the Autumn season and the accompanying Halloween holiday! By utilizing enormous kettle and dry hop additions, we are able to coax clean and vibrant flavors of orange, lychee, mango, and grapefruit from a base of simple ingredients. The nose is pungent, and we like to describe it as a tropical fruit hop bag. This beer is brewed to have a candy-like orange sweetness to balance the intense hop onslaught. It is intensely flavored but never overbearing, just the way we like a Double IPA. It’s not a trick, but a Treat to enjoy on the most spooky of days!

Thanks to rudzud canned 10/31/18
Light fizzy head, smaller head, a little lacing decent retention, super murky hazy golden tangerine color

Nose is on the lighter side, tangerine, juicy citrus, orange, pithy, little rind, touch of tropical fruit and hint grapefruit little gristy malt

Taste brings more citrus, tangerine, lychee, a little grapefruit pith, little rind, doughy malt and creamy wheat like, a touch of tropical fruit, pretty juicy, orange cream notes, little spicy briny bitterness late, flash of alcohol warmth

Mouth is med bod, creamy juicy, decent carb, a flash of tingly alcohol late

Overall eh, typical TH IPA but nothign special and not one of their most bright but not bad, finish was not that great either

Picked up some cans of this at the brewery today. My can art was purple. There are seven types of colored cans (purple, pink, yellow, red, green, blue, orange).

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice hazy dark straw hue with a good two finger creamy white head that faded to leave a dense creamy blanket with light lacing. Great retention.

S - Aromas of lighter citrus peel and grapefruit. From a little distance there are waves of lychee and mango and other tropical aromas, however, up close after a swirl...nonexistent.

T - Taste is nicely bitter with dank orange peel and grapefruit rind, oily. Little flashes of tropical mango as it warms up but not nearly as much as I was expecting. Certainly tastes on the greener side of things. Pleasant bitterness lingers as well. Sold fluffy malt backbone throughout.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, typical Tree house fluffy body with none of the alcohol.

O - Overall I'm not sure how I feel about this one. Definitely some high points here but it's not nearly as tropical fruit aggressive as I thought it was going to be. Drank on the greener side as well. I may revisit this again in a week or so and see if that changes things. I will say this, when it poured it was pouring utterly crystal clear until the last few ounces of the can. Surprised that after just a few hours it settles that hard already. Interesting...

Consumed 12/13/19

A: Pale tangerine orange with some honey tones - hazy - pours with a medium sized white head, fades to a few wisps but retains a small collar that leaves some nice rings of lacing

S: At first impression, sweet fruit - tangerine and orange juice with some sugar-topped ruby red grapefruit - tropical aromas, with mango and some pineapple - some light herbal notes, leafy hops, some woodsy aromas - definitely sweet overall, but not clear if it is the hops or the malt base, but it's probably a combination

T: Basically a tropical fruit juice topped off with more sugar - candied orange, mandarin slices, tangerine, with a hint of grapefruit - some floral and lightly oily citrus - slightly herbal and slightly dank hops - mango, pineapple, maybe some peach or apricot - an undercurrent of sweetness, which is not as borderline unpleasant as in Super Treat, but it's there (and clearly intentional) - touches of earth, low-medium bitterness

M: Medium body, smooth if not a bit slick, finish could be cleaner

O: Sometimes the original is better

I don't recall being particularly fond of Super Treat, yet I somehow gave it an overall score of 4.02. Oh well, I've never obsessed too much on scoring anyway. Regardless, I enjoy Treat more than Super Treat, with the latter just being too much. I still don't particularly love Treat, but I'd probably drink it again.

poured into a pint glass via can

color is hazy yellow with some white foam

smell is subdued tropical citrus mixed in with earthy hops

taste follows the nose

medium carbonation

mouthfeel is full and creamy

not a pungent as some other TH beers, this one was a little lacking for me when it comes to the fruity/hop punch that I normally expect.
