Notes: And Miles To Go Before I Sleep is the refrain to Miles To Go Before I Sleep, featuring an even richer base beer and larger additions of chocolate and peanut butter. It pours motor oil black in the glass and emits sweet aromas of milk chocolate and peanut butter cups. The nose is so rich it seems to coat your nostrils, priming your palate for the sweet treat to come. The mouthfeel of this beer is fluffy and coating, almost like melted marshmallows in a cup of hot chocolate. And Miles To Go is very rich, and can easily be shared and enjoyed with a friend or loved one as you spend time enjoying each other’s company on a snowy New England night.

L - "And" Miles To Go? Not very inspired. Was expecting Mmmilesss Tttooo Gggo- you get the point. Pour is jet black with minimal head. Boozey legs paint the glass. If I'm not mistaken, this one is up there with highest TH ABV brews. A quick swirl brings out the chocolate lab brown. Woof.

S - cool whip and peanut butter cups. Rich and chocolatey. Give it a deep enough inhale and I'm peppered with bourbon spice and cinnamon.

T - peanut butter is much more pronounced in this rendition. Exudes warmth and toastiness. Roasted peanuts drizzled in Hershey's chocolate syrup. Woodsy and surprisingly bourbony, but that might just be the booze. As it warms, more decadent sweetness oozes out with notes of molasses, brown sugar, and spiced hot chocolate. Rather, make that coffee. Finishes with a touch of marshmallow.

F - low carbonation and a nice, juicy fullness. Not as sticky as expected, which is pleasantly refreshing.

O - more intense in some aspects than its younger brother, but the booze comes at the expense of some decadence and balance. Fortunately, the alcohol provides a touch more warmth on this cold, icy Sunday.

TREE HOUSE AND MILES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP STOUT 9/30/19

Acquired last Wednesday at the brewery. Poured from the 16 oz. can into a Samuel Smith English tulip.

a; Pitch black with an inch thick brown head which receded slowly to thin surface foam and spotty to dense lacing.

s: Primarily dark chocolate, some coffee notes.

t; Follows the nose in a combination along with some roasty malt, moderate hop bite with throat burn and some lingering bitterness on the sweet finish.

m: The term "pillowy" often applied to Tree House brews certainly applies here. Great body and quite a lot of carbonation tingle.

o; One of the smoothest stouts I have had, with all the flavors usually associated with a good stout. Just a wonderful brew, and the high ABV (especially for Tree House, 10%) is pretty well covered, as the initial throat burn tapers off.

Poured from a 16 oz can (yes, can) into a tulip glass.

Pours a jet black color with a finger of effervescent dark tan head. The head fades quickly, but leaves some gorgeous cobweb lacing as it settles into a thin sheet.

The aroma is pure chocolate malts with a nice dose of coffee. There's some char and burnt pork notes as well.

The flavor is an atomic bomb of chocolate, with notes of cocoa powder, fudge, and chocolate cream. There's some coffee and a very faint hint of peanut butter on the finish. Exceedingly sweet.

The feel is full bodied with low carbonation. Soft, yet very sticky and syrupy. The alcohol is definitely present.

Overall, I hate that I don't really like this beer. Tree House stouts are as legendary as their hoppy beers. Unfortunately this one is just too much for me. It's way too sweet and way too boozy for my liking. I couldn't even finish half a glass, let alone 16 ounces. Hopefully TH can refine their stouts a bit because they're heading towards Diabetes Town and I don't like it.
