Double Shot - EspressoDouble Shot - Espresso
Notes: We are very excited to share this new batch of Double Shot with you! This is a carefully crafted beer that exhibits intense coffee character in a balanced, enjoyable way. We worked with our friends at Gracenote to create a coffee blend that would integrate seamlessly with a beer designed explicitly for this coffee, and more specifically, a significantly heightened coffee to beer ratio. Our entire process of producing the base beer was adjusted to be in harmony with this particular blend. Double Shot Espresso pours pitch black in the glass and rises with a dense, dark brown creamy head - the proper presentation for what awaits! We taste and smell syrupy dark chocolate, molasses, dark brown sugar, caramelized honey, fudge pops, and creamy espresso. As you work your way through the glass, an attractive creamy skim of foam graces the edges of your glass as more flavors evolve and present themselves as the beer is allowed to warm. This is a delightful and well integrated beer, indeed. Tree House aspires to make beers that are intensely flavorful yet soft on the palate, balanced, distinctive, and enjoyable all the way through the glass. To that end, we find Double Shot Espresso to be a triumph, and a beer we are very much looking forward to enjoying with friends and family alike.

Pours black with two fingers of dense, caramel foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is expressive and complex roasty and toasty malts with a lightly bitter, creamy shot of espresso just underneath. Beyond the forward malts and espresso are fragments of caramel, chocolate, toffee and molasses. Lovely, deep, expressive aromatics. Flavor profile is roasty, toasty, caramely malts with a bold shot of espresso riding on its heals. Espresso is complex, chocolatey and creamy adding an expressive and explosive portion to each sip. Caramel, chocolate, cocoa nibs and toffee add lightly sugary, but not overly sweet, additions to each sip. Mouth feel is full, thick and creamy - just like a well-pulled shot of espresso. Overall, big and expressive stout that still manages to showcase and benefit from featuring espresso.

Served in a 15.5oz Spiegalau tulip from a 500mL bottle.

Pours a dark, chocolatey brown with slow effervescence and a finger of dark tan foam head. Settles into a thin crown and wisp with some sloppy sheets of lacing.

Chocolate and sweetish coffee in the nose.

The taste follows closely. Sugared coffee — maybe even espresso — with some creamy, high-quality chocolate behind. The coffee is dark and lush, but there’s tons of brown sugar, molasses and Hershey’s syrup in front of it. There are hints of cherry and plum as well.

Medium bodied and slick feeling with modest carbonation

The espresso on this take a second to find, but is a really nice addition to what is otherwise a decadently sweet dessert stout. 11/27/19 canned on date.

Canned 11/27/19. Poured from the 16 oz. can into a Samuel Smith English tulip.

a; Opaque black with a finger thick mocha head which receded quickly to wisps of foam.

s: Strong black coffee and dark chocolate.

t: Follows the nose with a building moderate bite which lingers on the mixed finish.

m: Medium, good body and some carbonation tingle.

o: A good strong coffee stout, though perhaps falling a bit short on the espresso intensity one might expect. Just as well as a pint of espresso would be rather frighteningly intense.
