We are very excited to share this new batch of Double Shot with you! This is a carefully crafted beer that exhibits intense coffee character in a balanced, enjoyable way. We worked with our friends at Gracenote to create a coffee blend that would integrate seamlessly with a beer designed explicitly for this coffee, and more specifically, a significantly heightened coffee to beer ratio. Our entire process of producing the base beer was adjusted to be in harmony with this particular blend. Double Shot Espresso pours pitch black in the glass and rises with a dense, dark brown creamy head - the proper presentation for what awaits! We taste and smell syrupy dark chocolate, molasses, dark brown sugar, caramelized honey, fudge pops, and creamy espresso. As you work your way through the glass, an attractive creamy skim of foam graces the edges of your glass as more flavors evolve and present themselves as the beer is allowed to warm. This is a delightful and well integrated beer, indeed. Tree House aspires to make beers that are intensely flavorful yet soft on the palate, balanced, distinctive, and enjoyable all the way through the glass. To that end, we find Double Shot Espresso to be a triumph, and a beer we are very much looking forward to enjoying with friends and family alike.

Motor oil black with a bit of dark tan head that quickly dissipated. Nothing wrong with the appearance, but certainly nothing noteworthy either. The nose, however is great. Interesting that the passage of time has removed any coffee or espresso notes, but what's left behind is sweet chocolate, and while I don't believe any was used, the impression of vanilla.

The coffee roast is much more prominent on the tongue. Maybe a hint of something sweet to balance it out, but it's definitely coffee forward. Luckily, while I don't drink coffee I do like it in beer, and this beer has it in spades. Long, long finish with the coffee lingering seemingly forever. Full bodied.

Overall, this exceeded my expectations. Very good beer, even with almost four years on it.

Canned 3/11/21

A: Pours a pitch black color with 2 fingers of head that quickly fades down to a thin cap

S: Lots of roasted malt, espresso, and dark chocolate. Some light caramel as well

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the roasted malt and espresso. Dark chocolate and caramel come through next, with the chocolate sweetness amping up a bit. Finishes with lingering espresso and chocolate

M: Full bodied with low-moderate carbonation. Smooth

O: A great coffee stout that really amplifies the chocolate and coffee. Makes for a great sipper. Definitely on the sweeter side. Worth checking out

16 oz can into a Tree House mason jar.

Appearance is jet black with 2 fingers of fluffy mocha head. Lots of cobwebs of clingy lacing with a stubborn head that rests on top of the beer in a thick comforter of creamy foam. Absolutely perfect.

Smells like fresh coffee beans, with some nuttiness and dark chocolate fudge. Maybe a hint of brown sugar. Good aroma, but a tad underwhelming.

The taste starts off with some roasted coffee, then comes a tidal wave of chocolate notes: Chocolate fudge, dark chocolate candy, and chocolate syrup. There's a bit of molasses and black cherries with some caramel and brown sugar. Very sweet, but still complex with a lot going on.

The feel is full bodied with very little carbonation. Chewy and creamy with a fair bit of booziness.

Overall, this is definitely a great imperial stout. However, it's suffering a bit from the current TH trend of flirting with cloying flavors. There's not much balance here, just an assault of chocolate with some coffee and dark fruits tossed nonchalantly in the back. Still, the flavors are pleasant and whatever coffee that's being used is doing work keeping these stouts from becoming cloying pastry diabetes grenades.

Pours a deep dark brown to black color with a half finger of head. There is some coffee in the nose, however, the roast doesn't bowl me over like I expected it might. The flavor is dominated by the essence of a sweet coffee concoction similar to something one might get at Starbucks. The mouthfeel is sticky and the body is relatively thick.

Canned on 4/2/20; consumed on 1/31/21 - didn't realize this was in my garage beer fridge since the Spring. . . .

A: Poured from the can into a Tree House tulip. Body is motor-oil black, though not as thick/viscous on the pour. . . . Leaves a half-finger of chocolate-brown head on top.

S: Not a big nose - definitely coffee, also chocolate (dark and milk) and fudge brownies.

T: Some dried fruit - raisins come to mind - along with the more traditional stout flavors: roasted coffee, dark chocolate, milk chocolate. Also some black licorice and molasses. Finishes on the sweeter side. . . .

M: Flat and modestly oily/slick - really no carbonation at all. Not quite full enough in feel for a big stout.

O: Disappointed - wanted a better stout for dessert tonight. But I suspect this was better when it was fresh some 8+ months ago.

16oz can dated 4/2/20.

Pours opaque black with a tan head. Moderate retention with minimal lacing. Chocolate fudge with espresso and boozy undertones in the nose. Full bodied with a velvety, oily mouthfeel. Sweet chocolate with shades of coffee and fudge on the palate. Finishes sweet with lingering fudge and espresso.

Pours dark brown with a foamy chocolate 1 inch head fairly quickly dissipating chocolate head
Aroma as poured is roasted coffee, chocolate, molasses and brown sugar
Taste is complex and follows nose, coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, molasses sugar and a touch of alcohol
Mouthfeel is definitely sticky and kind of full with a lingering expresso taste, low to medium carbonation
Overall with the amount of brown sugar and molasses taste it is not real sweet, it's coffee forward and kind of light for a stout. Good beer.

Thanks to generous friends, a backyard bbq of jerk chicken on a cool late summer evening made way for this post dinner espresso stout paired with a coconut macaron. It pours with a thin head and a rich, dark color; not as oily as a barrel aged but still viscous and lacy. The smell of the coffee is immediately present on the palate and subtle molasses wet the back of your throat. There is incredible smoothness and not boozy at all. Just fantastic. Pairing this with a dessert highlights the subtle sweetness.
