For this rendition of Double Shot, we steeped our favorite coffee beer on an intense amount of vanilla beans sourced from several different locales. Utilizing beans from Madagascar, Mexico, Tonga, and Papua New Guinea, we are able to extract an intense and complex blend of vanilla into our beloved coffee stout. We taste earthy vanilla, vanilla bean skin, chocolate chocolate chip cookies, and brownie batter. Vanilla Bean Double Shot is more integrated, while Intense Vanilla will satisfy the vanilla lovers among us.

16 oz can poured into a snifter. Pours pitch black with nitro-like foaming action. Chestnut tan head with nice retention and lacing. Aroma and flavor feature dark roasted malts, sweet (not sour - whew!) vanilla, coffee, semisweet chocolate, caramel, and a hint of earthy hops. Full, viscous, smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Overall, this is complex and highlights vanilla flavor very well. Great stuff.

Fizzy head, quickly (and predictably) gone, with little trace that it ever existed. Body is wondrously black and inviting.
Huge aroma, with notes of vanilla, coffee, caramel, chocolate, molasses, toffee, and red grape. Definitely delivers on the premise!
Thick and creamy on the palate; this definitely feels like a stout pushing near double digit ABV. Slightly hot, with a warming and pleasant alcohol presence. Long sticky finish despite the alcohol effervescence.
Vanilla is prominent on the palate, as it should be. It's not a beer for people who aren't fans of vanilla, but then, it's literally warning you with the name, so if you find that the vanilla is too much, that's kind of on you. Coffee brings earthy and berry-like notes, most noticeable on the back half once you've worked through some of the sugar. Darker notes of chocolate and caramel, along with red grape and brown sugar, complement the vanilla up front. The vanilla peaks mid-sip. Lightly charred toast on the back third.
This is an excellent beer that really lives up to the name. One of Tree House's better flavored coffee stouts, which is a pretty darn high bar.
