Perfect StormPerfect Storm
Notes: Perfect Storm is an absurdly hopped rendition of Super Typhoon; the most kingly and intense of our weather series! Featuring boatloads of Simcoe & Citra hops, perfect storm pours a glowing orange in the glass and carries flavors and aromas of earthy citrus, cantaloupe, papaya, and strawberry banana. Perfect Storm’s hop leanings are more intense and resinous, with tongue coating fruity hop oils and a firm, lingering bitterness. This one will evolve beautifully in the can with time and reveal layers of additional complexity through cold conditioning. Enjoy!

Picked-up four cans at the Tree House Brewery in Charlton for about five dollars per can. No canned-on date, but I believe that this is brand new. This is excellent, one of TH's best.

Over hopped Super Typhoon. Sign me up. Had this on tap at the brewery and that was a glorious 12oz of heaven. Supremely balanced, intense stone fruit and full mouth feel make this a must drink IPA.

Picked up some cans of this at the brewery. Canned on 7/19/19.

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice hazy golden sunshine hue with a big, creamy two finger white head that fades to leave sticky side lacing and a dense, creamy blanket.

S - Aromas of bright, zesty citrus along with flashes of ripe strawberries. Little pithy and bitter along with flashes of some earthy tropical fruits. Very light malt sweetness. No discernible alcohol.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. Big bright citrus more oily peel than juice oddly enough. Decent earthy notes along with lemon. The strawberries come and go in this before being slammed by intense resinous hops. There are some good danker tropical fruit notes, however, the first few sips resulted in a rather big flash of alcohol.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, creamy, medium bodied. It's good but I get flashes of alcohol throughout.

O - Overall this is good, however, the unexpected flashes of alcohol overshadowed the pleasant almost fruit salad like flavour. The bitterness is pleasant on the finish though.

16 oz. can. Murky orange. Smells of tropical fruit and orange creamsicle. Tastes of orange and tropical fruits. Slightly sweet malt. Oaty and earthy behind it. Bitter finish. Medium heavy. Pretty dry for a Tree House DIPA, but it has a long earthy yeast back end. I kinda like it, but not sure what I'd think if i had a whole can to myself.

Poured into a 16 oz Bell’s Hopslam glass, canned on 9/12/19. Pours a very hazy orange yellow with a finger plus sticky white head that leaves a thick ring of lace with amazing retention. 5

Smell is tangerine, papaya, honeydew, pineapple, and just a whiff of grapefruit. 4.5

Taste follows a bunch of melon, tangerine, pineapple, papaya, guava, and hints of grapefruit in the bold yet balanced finish. 4.5

Mouthfeel is bigger than most, soft gentle carbonation, sticky not dry, and at 8% easy sipping, but packed with flavor. 5

Overall again this Brewery is so hyped, but so damn good it is scary.

Sweet, juicy and dank. Dry finish but lingering flavors on the tongue, smooth bitterness. IMO best IPA/DIPA from the Charlton location. Cheers!

Poured on draft at the brewery.

Pours an opaque bright golden orange color with a finger of creamy white head. The head leaves a lot of splotchy lacing as it settles into a thin ring.

The aroma is... decent. Certainly more muted than its counterparts. There's lots of grainy malt and notes of mangoes. Some grapefruit and orange, maybe some pineapple.

The flavor definitely pops more than the aroma. Still quite grainy with good malt presence. Notes of oranges, grapefruit, peach and pineapple with a hint of guava and what I assume to be papaya. Finishes very earthy and subtly spicy. Like chewing on a hop cone. Good balance.

The feel is very slick and medium bodied. Low carbonation. Soft and has a dry finish. Bitterness lingers long after the final sip.

Overall, a great DIPA that doesn't quite reach the level I hoped it would. It's not terribly different from Super Typhoon although I do like it a lot more. I'm honestly just not the biggest fan of this series of beers. Still, this one IS great, just disappointing by TH standards.

A: Poured from the can into a tulip glass. Body is juicy-hazy golden-yellow with a little less than a half-finger of white head on top.

S: Nice nose, though not a jump-out-of-the-glass and smack-you-in-the-face type of nose. Ripe melon immediately comes to mind. Touch of pineapple-orange juice.

T: Interesting overall flavor profile. Pineapple-orange juice with under-ripe mangoes and lemons. Touch of earthy pine, and some canteloupe melon.

M: Juicy. Not as pillowy-soft as I'm used to from TreeHouse. But real nice.

O: I like this - it's old-school hops (Citra and Simcoe I believe) that punch you in the mouth with their bitterness. But the TreeHouse treatments softens the blow and makes you want to come back for more. Enjoying this one even more the longer I drink it.
