Very Good
Dear WashingtonDear Washington
Notes: Dear Washington is a wet-hopped American IPA brewed with Citra and Amarillo hops harvested from the fields of Washington and shipped directly to our brewery in less than twenty-four hours. It is brewed in a way not typical of a wet hop beer, eschewing overly resinous, leafy hop character in favor of gentle, well-integrated hop notes and soft lupulin character. Dear Washington pours a glowing orange color in the glass and emits flavors and aromas of tangerine juice and grapefruit. A soft malt body provides heft, with minimal bitterness or leafy hop presence making it exceptionally pleasant to drink. In the words of Matty Blais on the packaging line, “it’s a glider”. Enjoy, and drink fresh!

Soft taste and mild smell. Very good balance in the beer. Pours orange with earthy tastes. Not as bitter as a lot of other similarly categorized beers and very tasty.

16oz. can into Night Shift stemware. Shared with schen9303.

Nose is fresh cut grass, citrus and a touch of pineapple sweetness. Aromatic and juicy. Beer opens cane sugar, citrus and pinneapple. More sweet citrus fruit in the middle with some sweet cream at the finish. Solid if not spectacular. Body is light with moderate carbonation. Prickly on the palate and goes down crisp and refreshing with a lingering aftertaste.

Really drinkable but I expect this wet hot style to be a touch more aromatic and fresher with more of a noticeable hop bite. It's missing here.

poured from a 16oz can into a willi becher pint glass. pours golden clear until the very end of the can which is a milky orange color that slops into the glass mixing with the golden liquid to become a somewhat cloudy yellow with a minimal amount of firm white head. smell is fairly muted. none of that signature TH hop perfume that i’ve become accustomed to. perhaps a tad bit of orange citrus aromas and a hint of pine. taste is pithy orange and piney bitterness. mouthfeel is spot on, per usual with TH IPAs. overall, i’m not sure i get the wet hop aspect of this one. not a bad beer but in the TH IPA realm it’s pretty mediocre.

The nose to this one is quite pleasant - lots of orange citrus notes with a fair amount of malt backbone. The pour is a pleasant orange, fairly hazy and opaque - light head that dissipates, with marked lacing in the glass. Slightly dry on the tongue - quite hoppy, seems like citra hops with a fair amount of malt. Possibly another hop in there, I can't place it or say for certain. As it's warming, there's a slight dankness to the nose. It also takes on some creaminess. It finishes very clean - I'm enjoying this quite a lot.

Thank you nichols33!

Picked-up three cans at Tree House Brewery in Charlton for $3.80. Canned-on date of 10/8. My sixty third brew from these guys. I think TH's first wet-hop beer. Solid brew, nothing special.

Pours slightly cloudy, gold in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is pine, lemon, and wet hops. Medium bodied, medium high carbonation, slightly bitter. Solid ipa. Big wet hops, but I prefer several other offerings from this brewery.

Canned 10/03/19
Pours a large foamy pillowy head, great retention and soapy lacing, hazy cloudy medium orange color

Nose wet hops, fresh floral and quite grassy, mild hop oil sap resin, some citrus and pith, very light malt, citrus oil

Taste bright hips out front, big citrus again with a little melon and stone fruit, juicy citrus, tangelo, apricot, soft yellow grapefruit, light grassy floral, touch of sap and citrus oil, soft creamy, light flaked oat cereal, fruit punch, drier finish

Mouth is med bod but very soft and juicy, medium to a bit lighter carb

Overall not bad, not what I expected for super fresh wet hop but that's a good thing

Poured from a 16 oz can into a teku glass.

Pours a hazy deep orange color with 2 fingers of creamy white head. The head leaves a ridiculous amount of lacing as it settles into a thick cap of foam. Beautiful beer.

The aroma is frustratingly light and mild. There are notes of grassy, earthy hops and grapefruit. Some orange rind.

The flavor is not at all what you would expect from a wet hop IPA. It's very sweet up front, with loads of honeydew and sugarcane. There's also a ton of oranges and pineapple juice, with some light grapefruit. There's a nice doughy malt backbone, with a subtle earthy note on the finish.

The feel is medium bodied with lively carbonation. Fluffy and effervescent. Pretty crushable. Earthy hop oils coat the mouth and linger for a while.

Overall, this is quite an interesting beer. I'm not quite sure what to make of it. As a beer in general, it's very good. It's very flavorful and looks absolutely gorgeous in the glass. It is, however, far different than a typical Wet Hop IPA. It's also not your typical Tree House hoppy beer. The normal pillowy softness expected from TH is replaced by a hefty carbonation and moderate oiliness. Overall, I like it. But if you're expecting a bitter, aromatic beer experience, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Bought this on release. Reviewing it a second time because my initial review disappeared as I reviewed it under the original entry of this beer, as I was the first to add the beer Dear Washington, but that too seems to disappeared in favor of this later added beer entry. Incredibly, incredibly frustrating.

A - Poured into my duvel tulip a nice hazy golden orange hue with a fat two finger white head that fades to leave thick lacing and a dense blanket.

S - Aromas of lightly wet hops, little grassy, flashes of almost cardboard. Decent malt sweetness, surprising for a can that is two weeks old. Little bit of candied orange peel and marmalade.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with slightly grassy hops, little fluffy hop oil as well. Big candied orange and marmalade as well before giving way to grapefruit bitterness. There is good lighter malt sweetness, almost tastes more like a west coast sprinkled with some New England IPA notes.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, creamy, fluffy. On point for the style and ABV.

O - Overall this was a solid enough IPA. I'm a bit perplexed at how non aggressive the hops are in this. I expected more hop characteristics but instead I got an IPA that was more malt forward. I don't remember it being like this when I reviewed it back on October 3rd when I added this beer the first time. Wild.
