Hey Mr. Gingerbread ManHey Mr. Gingerbread Man
Notes: Gingerbread Man is a holiday inspired imperial milk stout brewed with coffee, chocolate, and gingerbread spice. Like many holiday treats, Hey Mr. Gingerbread Man is sweet, decadent, joyful, and fulfilling! We taste and smell fresh baked gingerbread cookies, chocolate covered ginger pieces, creamy coffee, and chocolate gingerbread cake. A rich body and sweet backbone propel these flavors as the beer warms in the glass. This beer is a great accompaniment to confectionary holiday treats, offering balance a hint of warming spice - enjoy!

Appearsnce - The beer had the thick black presence of a start with a mocha colored head.

Smell - more than ginger, the nose was roasted coffee. Without the name, I would not have expected gingerbread to be a part of this beer.

Taste - In the initial taste, there was not a ton of ginger much less gingerbread. There were plenty of graham cracker malts. But in the big picture, the beer came off as a coffee stout. Even in the aftertaste it was rusty without the advertised ginger.

Mouthfeel - The Brewer has a knack for full-bodied stouts. This did not disappoint.

Overall - Even those With whom I shared the beer agreed that the beer was lacking in the promised gingerbread.

Thanks to rudzud, hey mr gingerbread man play a song for me, in the jingle jangle morning...

Pours a medium foamy dark head with medium-lower retention and good lacing, fair legs, pitch black thick beer

Nose is basic Tree House double or single shot, loads of coffee and roasted malts, little fluffy nougat and caramel, very light gingerbread cookie and ginger spice, some baking spice, light chocolate fudge

Taste brings rich cocoa and creamy milk chocolate, vanilla ice cream, roasted coffee and roasted malt notes, some very dark chocolate and bitterness, creamy smooth milk chocolate lactose, a little baking spice and again just a hint of ginger spice, some ginger like heat or maybe alcohol heat, fair alcohol flavor in there, a touch fudgey and more bitter roast

Mouth is med to fuller bod, creamy and rich, moderate carb, fair warming hot alcohol

Overall meh, not much gingerbread, and base beer was not that good either

Picked up at the brewery and shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice really dark brown hue with an almost black hue with a fat mocha head that fdes to leave a thin lacing and light wisps. Nice colour but the retention is a bit lackluster.

S - Aromas of...well...Double Shot. Nice fruity and nutty coffee, dark and roasty. Flashes of chocolate, dark and fudgy....but I don't really get any gingerbread whatsoever. A little bit of baking spices, but for the most part I don't get ginger or gingerbread cookies. Really disappointing.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with pleasant roasty coffee, flashes of fruitiness, there is solid enough chocolate. The gingerbread notes are incredibly lackluster, I get a little bit of baking spice but other than that...not much.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly cabonated, little creamy, alcohol slightly noticeable on the finish.

O - Overall this was a solid enough stout, flashes of booze. Great coffee and chocolate, however, the gingerbread notes are incredibly lackluster. Was hoping for somethign more Hardywood-esc.

A- The 16oz can goes into a tulip glass with a body as black as can be and a one inch head. The creamy foam rises fast and dies down fairly quickly before a wide ring at the edges leaves widespread webbed lacing.

S- Honestly, this smells very similar to Intemperance and Fudge, not getting a whole lot of gingerbread spice as the aroma is dominated by deep, luscious cocoa and chocolate notes. Fudge, caramel, vanilla wafers, toasted nuts, dried dark fruits, dark roast coffee, burnt barley and chocolate malt notes.

T- Very similar to the aroma, moderately high sweetness and again not a lot of the gingerbread spice. Very rich and fudgey chocolate, dark fruity cocoa, milk chocolate, nuts, coffee and roast barley. Rich cocoa sums it up.

MF- Heavy thickness with an oily slickness and a chewy creamy texture. Medium level of carbonation and a roasty bittersweet ending.

Considering the name a bit disappointed with this one. It really is extremely similar to the other recent Tree House stouts and almost no ginger flavor at all.

Hey Mr GIngerbread Man poured dark. It had overtones of coffee and seasonal spices. The mouth feel was pleasant with balanced alcohol and a pronounced sweetness. I thought the sweetness was excessive. It did not remind me of ginger bread. However this is decent Milk Stout and would go great as a post meal beverage shared with friends and over some sweets.

Pours opaque, dark brown in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is coffee, vanilla, ginger and holiday spices. Gingerbread really does not show till it warms. Heavy bodied, really sweet, spicy, low carbonation. Solid Tree stout..Same sweet base, with some ginger.

I cannot taste Gingerbread ... it tastes like every treehouse chocolatey stout I've had ... cocoa first, espresso coffee, graham cracker and a little bit of black licorice. Overly sweet and makes your lips feel sticky after drinking it.

At 9% the ABV is high but its cloyingly sweet taste makes you drink it slow. If you like the Founders Breakfast Stout line, you'll enjoy this. I must admit I'm not a stout guy but if I was, I'd probably have one or two of these and call it a night. Too sweet and syrupy and I was hoping for a Gingerbread taste which I did not get at all. Chocolate and coffee take over.

Picked-up a single can at the Tree House Brewery in Charlton for $8.55. This is my seventy third brew from these guys. Very good, liked Fudge a bit more, wish $ was a bit lower.

16oz can dated 12/11/19.

Pours opaque black with a dark brown head of about an inch. Retention and lacing are minimal. Chocolate-drizzled fudge and espresso with a hint of random spice in the nose. Full bodied with a creamy, velvety mouthfeel. Fudge, espresso, and bakers chocolate on the palate. Finishes sweet and rich with lingering chocolate syrup. Great stout but dissapointed there's no gingerbread character.
