Permanence is an imperial milk stout brewed with coffee, chocolate, & a huge dose of maple syrup. Below these additions lies a complex base of chocolate, caramel, and dark crystal malts. Permanence amplifies everything about Impermanence while carving out its own space of individuality and charm. The aroma of rich maple is so potent it sticks to your nostrils. The flavor is equally indulgent, coating the tongue with decadent flavors of sweet milk chocolate, dark amber maple syrup, maple ice cream, and chocolate covered maple caramels. This beer will contribute positively to cozy winter celebrations, we are sure of it - Enjoy!

Appearance is an unremarkable dark brown with a little bit of tan head that quickly receded to a thin ring. While somewhat discrete, this beer smells really good up close. Chocolate, coffee and maple syrup all blend well together to create a rich aroma that really entices.
Coffee is the first thing I taste, and it continues to dominate mid palate, but then the maple sweetness kicks in on the finish with a little bit of bitter roast mixed in. I was worried about this being overly sweet, but it strikes a really nice balance. Fully bodied and slick.
Overall, nice beer.

Poured from a bottle into pint glass in July 2023. I do not see a bottled on date, but I drank this about 1 month after purchasing the bottle at the Tree House brewpub.
Appearance: As with many imperial stouts, very dark black with a thin dark brown head. Head was only 1 finger high, and lasted a minute. It leaves only a little lacing on the glass, and ended with a thin tan head still on the beer. Head bubbles were very fine.
Smell: Strong aroma of bourbon, chocolate, and maple. There is also some caramel, vanilla, and some other sweet aroma like black licorice, but overall the bourbon and maple dominate the others. It is a very nice balance of aromas, and good contrast.
Taste: There is a nice balance between the chocolate, bourbon, and sweetness from the maple flavors. There is some smokie roasted flavors, some caramel, vanilla, and coffee flavors, and a little amount of bitter hop flavors to enhance the taste and add some complexity. There is a strong alcohol presence, but it is balanced nicely by the sweetness. The taste is an excellent mix.
Mouth-feel: Thick like liquid licorice, but with a smooth body. Not overly smooth like a Milk Stout.
This is an excellent, complex Imperial Stout, and it has a variety of flavors that adds a nice complexity to the beer. Although this is a big beer, it is very smooth and enjoyable to drink. This maple sweetness nicely contrasts the bourbon flavor, and is a nice balance to the alcohol. Another great stout like their Persevere. This reminds me a lot of Founder's CBS and KBS stouts which are some of my favorite beers. At $10 for a 12oz bottle, I just wish it was not so expensive. Another outstanding beer by Tree House.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours pitch black with a thin head of fizzy bubbles that quickly fades. The last pours includes several unappetizing "glops" that float on top of the remaining beer like black pond scum. Thankfully I did not add the last bit until I had drunk almost the entire beer. The aroma includes a (very) slight sour note that thankfully doesn't come through in the flavor. Big notes of maple, vanilla, semisweet chocolate, dark roasted malts, caramel de leche, and coffee. It's sweet but not quite cloying. Mouthfeel is full, viscous, and not all that boozy. This is a beer to be sipped and slowly savored. Delicious - at least until the final glops.

Canada's influence has permeated the brewery of TreeHouse as they cater to that north-of-the-boarder palate preferences with alcohol and maple piled high on an Imperial Milk Stout base taste that'll have every Canuck charging south for breakfast.
Permanence pours with a plush tar-like appearance, topped with a mocha-whipped meringue. As its scent swoons the nose with savory maple, chocolate, coffee and cream, so does a tingle of alcohol that reads like bourbon spices. Similarly in taste, the decadence of maple, chocolate, blackstrap molasses, mocha milkshake and French vanilla soothe the early palate with dessert-like effects.
Full and plush on the middle palate, the flavors melt into the tastebuds with savory, sultry and sweet maple syrup with a butter, creamy and crusted brownie character. With flavors of sweet espresso, crème brûlée and sweet cream adding charm, a fatigue on the late palate happens as the warmth of kahlua and whisky are no matched for the absurd amount of sweetness that the stout brings
Unabashedly full, unapologetic and drinking with the mouthfeel of cake batter, the twelve ounce bottle is easily a shareable portion for an average mid-sized European village. So chocked with flavor that every purchase should come with a free treadmill and insulin shot.

Im sampling a cold 500 ml bottle. Its been in my fridge for about 1.5 years. Time to open it for sure. Im pouring into my trusty snifter.
the beer pours a black coffee color with no light passing through the glass. A fizzy dense, tan head foams up about 1 cm and fades quickly to an edge layer. this thin layer sticks around throughout the sampling.
the aroma is bold and malty, I get brown sugar and toffee mixing with dark chocolate and some coffee grounds. There is some light maple syrup on the nose also, and I suspect it was bigger when this beer was fresher.
The first sip reveals a medium body with syrupy and sticky texture. Very minimal and soft carbonation on this beer.
Flavor is fudge brownie and a bit of brown sugar, briefly some roasted malt or coffee and then tons of maple syrup. The flavor lingers sweet maple long after each swallow. Definitely sweet, but also good maple flavor here too.
No hint of the ABV anywhere on this brew.
Another big milk stout from Tree House that is sweet and enjoyable. glad to have tried this one.
