Big Chocolate is an imperial milk stout featuring several different chocolates, nibs, and cocoa powders carefully sourced from around the world a top an individually constructed base beer featuring chocolate, pale chocolate, brown, and roasted malts. The result is a beautiful symphony of complex chocolate flavor that is both a function of chocolate malts balanced by gently sweet lactose and overt chocolate flavors from the adjuncts used throughout the brewing process. In short, it’s a chocolate bomb. We taste and smell fudgy brownies, sweet milk chocolate, hints of extra dark chocolate, and chocolate syrup. The beauty of Big Chocolate is not only in it’s dense chocolate flavor, but also it’s unparalleled complexity that reveals layers of intriguing flavor as it warms - Enjoy!

Smooth, creamy and plush on the palate, Tree House sources as many types of chocolate as they can muster in order to fuel a stronger milk stout that's about as close to a pastry stout as it gets without being a pastry stout.

Very dark brown and easily taken for black, Big Chocolate brings its big nib energy with a frothy meringue and a bold candy shop scent of fresh baking cake, fudge, vanilla, coffee and cream. Similarly in taste, the initial sip is creamy, chocolaty and dense like a fully malted milkshake.

The coffee, cream and vanilla rises as the chocolate seeps into the tastebuds. But the overwhelming taste of chocolate remains front and center as a dense mouthfeel creates a truly fudgy, cake batter and brownie-like experience. As hints of coffee pull from the roasted grain, a hint of bitterness trends cocoa-like into a long and plush late palate.

Full, thick and pleasantly cloying, this milk stout is a one-trick-pony that is all about the chocolate and little more. It finishes fat with malt and milk sugars with a long linger of chocolate syrups.

16oz. can into a Side Project snifter.

Pours a 1 finger dense mocha colored head. Thick and rich. Spotty lace with thick, oily, molasses legs. Nose is cocoa powder, iced mocha, chocolate, and sweet cream. Beer opens cocoa powder, chocolate, and coca cola. Hints of espresso and mocha in the middle with more chocolate, vanilla, and the slight bitterness of some roasted malt towards the end. This one achieves a nice balance. Body is medium to full with low carbonation. Slick and chewy on the palate and goes down warm with a long, lingering aftertaste.

While a lot of Tree House's recent Imperial Stouts have been too sweet, this one achieves some semblance of balance. Quite nice overall.

Too sweet for me! I rated this so high because based on the style and description they nailed it however, it’s too sweet for me. I wouldn’t get this again.

Picked this up from TH late November, had it as soon as I got home. Slightly warmed up in the car (from the heat) to about 45-50 degrees by the time I poured it out.

L: Very dark, opaque, with an inch-thick of light brown head with minimal lacing.

S: Heavy aromas of cocoa powder, fudge, and chocolate.

T: Wow, that's delightful - very, very accented chocolate flavors as soon as it hits the tongue and lingering afterwards. Unlike other milk stouts I've had, I didn't taste many hits of coffee (not a fan of coffee, so this is a plus for me).

F: Very full-bodied, medium carbonation. Lots and lots of chocolatey goodness but surprisingly it is neither too sweet nor syrupy - perfect balance.

O: Incredible - TH stouts are world class and this is a hallmark example. Be forewarned...it definitely doesn't taste like 10% ABV and I was feeling it after getting halfway...would recommend splitting it as a nice post-dessert beverage.
