World-Class
Notes: Quadruple Shot Extra Dark is brewed with an enormous amount of residual sweetness intended to balance an enormous amount of coffee, specifically roasted to a dark and chocolatey degree by Tree House Coffee Company.. The resulting beer is harmonious, and absolutely loaded with dark-roasted coffee flavors of dark chocolate and dark caramel with a robust and pleasing body and texture.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours pitch black and very thick (but not chunky) with almost no head. Some sediment, no real lacing. Aroma and flavor feature deep, chocolately, dark, rich roasted malts. Tons of black coffee with caramel sweetness. Almost cloying, but there is enough bitterness and roastiness to balance things out and make this surprisingly drinkable - though it's still a definite sipper. Mouthfeel is viscous, oily, palate-coating, and not very carbonated. Hides the abv very well. Overall a fantastic imperial amped-up coffee stout. Super flavorful and well-rounded, the opposite of rough-around-the-edges.

Picked-up a single bottle at Tree House in Sandwich for ten dollars. My two hundred and fortieth brew reviewed from these guys. Solid brew, a bit pricey.

Again tar black, but this time with a little more of a fuzzy mocha head that slightly retains a flat collar, as opposed to its headless broseph regular Quadruple Shot.

Compared to that regular QS, the integrity of coffee expression actually retains here, translating fairly toasty and more balanced. However, it's still heavily lactosey, sweet and sticky, and as such a let down relative to past myriad representations within the Shot series.

The bottled Double Shot variants used to be darlings of mine, but I've lost a lot of faith in Tree House's stout game since they long ago started doing these stickily viscous pastry bombs--and this isn't even intended to be a part of their pastry pantheon!

A: Pours a pitch black color with a fingers worth of head that fades down to a thin cap

S: Huge notes of coffee, roasted malt, and dark chocolate up front along with caramel and a touch of dark fruit

T: Follows the nose. Explodes with espresso/coffee, roasted malt, dark chocolate, and caramel. Sweetness well balanced with the bitterness from the coffee. Alcohol hardly noticeable. Finishes with lingering coffee and dark chocolate

M: Full bodied with low carbonation. Big and thick

O: An absolutely outstanding coffee stout that delivers on every level. Makes for a great sipper given the abv. Dangerous. Highly recommended

This is a glass of super rich, espresso brownie batter. It’s bitter, super dark chocolate, maillard sweetness, hazelnut bliss. Smooth as satin. Gets a touch too sweet when it warms, but at 11.5% ABV, it needs a strong malt backbone to balance the insane amount of dark roast coffee in it.

500 ml bottle into a tulip glass.

The pour is absolutely jet black with a small mocha head. Leaves minimal lacing. Settles into a ring around the top of the beer.

The aroma brings huge notes of charred dark roast coffee, dark chocolate and caramel, followed by a bit of dark fruit. Very bold aroma.

The flavor brings notes of dark chocolate, chocolate fudge, and dark roast coffee. There are some more subtle notes of black cherries and leather, with plenty of char.

The feel is full bodied with very little carbonation. Chewy, creamy and boozy.

Overall, another fantastic imperial stout from Tree House. The coffee notes are stronger than expected, giving a solid balance to the chocolate flavors that dominate most TH stouts these days.
