Evil JuliusEvil Julius
Notes: Evil Julius is a dastardly rendition of Julius brewed to push the concept of the Julius family into diabolically delicious territory. Featuring a high mash temperature, additional sweet malts, and an enormous load of our arduously selected blend of hops throughout the brewing process, including in the brite tank, it blurs the line between beer and juice like no other. We invite you to enjoy this once-a-year treat as you carve pumpkins and ward off evil spirits!

Canned on 10/27/22; consumed on 11/27/22

Pours a turbid, dirty orange hue capped with a dense, soapy, off-white foam; good head retention leaves a finger of cap, commensurate, frothy collar, and comprehensive walling of spotty lacing draping down the glass.

Aroma opens to fresh orange pulp against musty passionfruit and grapefruit peel, with wet moss lingering into a clean, dank burst through the middle as ripe resins wash across a sweeter, doughy malt underscore.

Taste features composting orange and tangerine pulp opening to musty bubblegum and a slight malt underscore; grapefruit finds resin-laden citrus over the mid-palate, proceeding to a mossy, nearly swampy overtone crossing the finish.

Mouthfeel shows a body on the fuller end of medium and a moderate-high fluff of creamy carbonation; juicy textures contrast a delicate bittering over a taut mid-palate toward a clean back end sporting hints of resinous glide through the finish.

Tropically-accented, earthy saturation; a taut malt bed is in flux with heavier resins, remaining overtly weighty in form yet predominantly balanced throughout.

Savagely dank on the nose. The palate starts with such tremendous promise and vibrant juiciness, but falls short in the end. It gives way to a somewhat overwhelming bitterness that leaves you feeling disappointed with what you’ve come to expect from the Julius line.

Pours ultra hazy, orange gold in color with one third inch head. Taste is mango puree, and faint vanilla. Heavy body, moderate low carbonation, slightly bitter. This is super smooth dank JJJULIUSSS. Not the best Julius variant but very good. Super smoothEd out mango.

Look - great hazy orangish color with a really big lasting white head and lacing
Smell - dank citrus
Taste - dry dank citrus slight floral
Feel - medium full body slight creamy light carb
Overall - really loved the dank citrus sell but the taste didn't live up to how great the smell was. Still really good

Canned 10/27/2021

Pours a dull pumpkin orange with a big fluffy off-white head.

Smells of orange sherbet, dried mango and grapefruit zest.

Tastes of orange, grapefruit, and candied pineapple, with some malt sweetness. Robust flavor but barely any booze bite. Warms you nicely.

Mouthfeel is a creamy and smooth ride all the way through. Some stickiness on the finish.

Outrageously good beer. Possibly better than King Julius. Either way one of the best 9% IPAs I’ve had the pleasure of drinking. This truly is Julius gone to the dark side. Get your hands on some.

The taste grabs your tongue in a sweet embrace. It’s not too strong, not too sweet, not bitter. Comfortable. It gives off a ominous hazy, cloudy look when poured into the glass. Like a haunted mansion’s entrance. The beer warms you up, no strong bite. No harsh swallow. Just a smooth ride. The grapefruit hits you immediately, and stays with you until the end of the can.

16oz. can into a Founders snifter. Shared with schen9303.

Muddy but with a nice head and great legs. Nose is astoundingly aromatic. I get notes of citrus, mango, cantaloupe, cane sugar, Haribou gummies, and starfruit. Delicious. Beer opens soft citrus up front. I get mango and orange gummies in the middle. Cantaloupe, cane sugar, and vanilla notes sweeten the experience. More mango and citrus in the end with a sweet acidity at the finish. This one's pretty delicious. Body is light with moderate to ample carbonation. Soft with some bubbles on the palate and goes down crisp, clean, and aggressive with a long, sweet, lingering aftertaste.

Is the evil twin better than the original? Possibly not but it's at least on the same level. Definitely worth trying.

16 ouncer, direct from the source a few days ago. Canned 10/27/21...

Full on, over the top clouded n juiced pour. All under a luxurious, lasting and frothy cap...leaves a bunch of fine sheeting on the glass....fine look to this one.

Mild smoked mango on the sniff with a slight tea infusion on the back end.

Delicious creation with notes of mango, melon, and apricots...soft, smooth, flavorful, complex....world class...go get some

Picked-up a four-pack of cans at Tree House in Sandwich today for about $5.80/can. Canned on date of 10/27. My two hundred and first brew from these guys. This is ridiculously good. Warning: Does not drink like a 9% ABV beer.
