Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.60%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
An extremely liberally hopped APA. Tornado was crafted during the unfortunate events surrounding the June 1st, 2011 Brimfield Tornado. We created the beer in honor of the circumstances as we experienced them and luckily escaped the path by 1/2 mile. Tornado is loaded with notes of pine, tropical fruit, and citrus. At 5.6% alcohol, it's super refreshing.

I just don't get this beer.

If you like a watered down Julius without the juicy smell and taste with a nice bitter almost metallic aftertaste ... have I got the beer for you. This was one of the few beers that I haven't tried and tbh ... I could do without it. Maybe this beer needs a few weeks on it but fresh it was ... not good, dare I say one of the worst from TH. If there is no taste, smell, or any distinguishing characteristics then what do you have? Tornado.

Is my pallet this bad? Did I get a bad can? This beer is making me think that my absence from drinking is warranted. At this point I would question people who rate this 4 or higher. I love TH and this beer is rated low for a reason and should be lower IMO.

Pass on all levels or trade immediately if possible.

From a 16oz can, dated 01/23/18. Served in an imperial pint pub glass.

Pours a heavily hazed glass of pulp-free OJ with two fingers of soft, pouffy, lush, ivory coloured foam. Retention is excellent and leaves a heavy cap with big, sticky clumps of merengue-like lacing.

Smells of squooshy white bread and seville orange marmalade. There's a soft yeastiness to the nose but, right alongside of that, there's a sharp citric, composting/fermenting tangerine tang. I'm sort of agnostic about whether or not it smells good but it definitely smells strong.

Taste follows the nose, for better and worse but mostly for better. Overripe, squishy, bitter seville oranges and grapefruit, juice, pith and peel, with diluted pine resin on soft white sandwich bread. Sweet top notes with lots of follow-on bitterness and a mildly grainy, boozy aftertaste.

Feel is mostly smooth and juicy, medium bodied with fine, tingly carbonation.

Overall, a pleasant enough beverage but, if you have to pass on some cans to be able to carry your haul safely back down the hill, this is probably the one.

Tall can....2/27/18

Nice looking hazed pour, leaves world class lacing of all sorts.

Over the top juicy..tropical and delicious....does Tree House make a bad beer?

Pours hazy orange yellow in color with one inch head. Taste is orange juice, mango, and orange rind. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, juicy, and slightly bitter. Loads of flavor for such a low abv. Will get this again.

For a pale ale, this is a killer brew. It has a lot of citrus on the nose, and a moderately hoppy flavor. Really nice and balanced, like most of Treehouses offerings. It tastes to me like a more lightly hopped version of Julius, with lots of peach flavors. Really nice Pale Ale.

Canned 8/2/18

Yellow to gold hazy body. Okay but not amazing head retention. Mild apricot and pine on the nose but still a fairly fresh green hoppy smell on the end. Flavor is nice and even, some sweet juicy apricot, evergreen pine, and a touch of bitterness on the finish. Really drinkable and lighter mouthfeel than most other treehouse brews. Closer in feel to their Eureka blonde with tons of hops than any other ipa/iipa.

Poured from a 750ml bottle.
A - When I first poured this I thought it was a DIPA. It has that deep opaque orange color so typical of a DIPA. One finger head settles pretty quickly with some nice lacing.
S - Fairly pungent hoppy aroma.
T - Some citrus and piney.
M - Medium carbonation.
O - One of the best Pale Ale's I've ever had.
