Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.60%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
An extremely liberally hopped APA. Tornado was crafted during the unfortunate events surrounding the June 1st, 2011 Brimfield Tornado. We created the beer in honor of the circumstances as we experienced them and luckily escaped the path by 1/2 mile. Tornado is loaded with notes of pine, tropical fruit, and citrus. At 5.6% alcohol, it's super refreshing.

The hype surrounding Julius is well deserved, no doubt. However, Tornando is in an entirely league all of its own. Think Enjoy By meeting a session beer. The beers body is somewhat on the lgihter side rimmed with tight carbonation that last throughout. Piney resin on the nose with hints of ripe fruit and a crisp hop profile. Taste and mouthfeel- this is where it gets interesting. Very crisp mouthfeel, this is what you get when the beer is coming from the source and is consumed within hours of being poured. Snappy and clean with a left-right-left combo of fresh cut grass and gasoline. Super rich taste and imminently drinkable.

For a pale ale, this is a killer brew. It has a lot of citrus on the nose, and a moderately hoppy flavor. Really nice and balanced, like most of Treehouses offerings. It tastes to me like a more lightly hopped version of Julius, with lots of peach flavors. Really nice Pale Ale.

Poured from a 750ml bottle.
A - When I first poured this I thought it was a DIPA. It has that deep opaque orange color so typical of a DIPA. One finger head settles pretty quickly with some nice lacing.
S - Fairly pungent hoppy aroma.
T - Some citrus and piney.
M - Medium carbonation.
O - One of the best Pale Ale's I've ever had.

750 mL growler poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Pale orange. Small white head. Nice collar and surface wisping.

Smell - Light lemony and orange hop. Slight herbal character.

Taste - Tastes like amarillo hops. Has that lemony flavor and some floral notes. Cracker malt in the middle. Mild herbal flavor in the back.

Mouthfeel - Light body. Medium low carbonation.

Overall - Decent pale ale, but doesn't stand out as very exciting.

I'm not a pale fan. But.... This was excellent. Cloudy hoppy pour. Floral nose with citrus initial taste.
