Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.60%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
An extremely liberally hopped APA. Tornado was crafted during the unfortunate events surrounding the June 1st, 2011 Brimfield Tornado. We created the beer in honor of the circumstances as we experienced them and luckily escaped the path by 1/2 mile. Tornado is loaded with notes of pine, tropical fruit, and citrus. At 5.6% alcohol, it's super refreshing.

I just don't get this beer.

If you like a watered down Julius without the juicy smell and taste with a nice bitter almost metallic aftertaste ... have I got the beer for you. This was one of the few beers that I haven't tried and tbh ... I could do without it. Maybe this beer needs a few weeks on it but fresh it was ... not good, dare I say one of the worst from TH. If there is no taste, smell, or any distinguishing characteristics then what do you have? Tornado.

Is my pallet this bad? Did I get a bad can? This beer is making me think that my absence from drinking is warranted. At this point I would question people who rate this 4 or higher. I love TH and this beer is rated low for a reason and should be lower IMO.

Pass on all levels or trade immediately if possible.

Pours hazy orange yellow in color with one inch head. Taste is orange juice, mango, and orange rind. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, juicy, and slightly bitter. Loads of flavor for such a low abv. Will get this again.

For a pale ale, this is a killer brew. It has a lot of citrus on the nose, and a moderately hoppy flavor. Really nice and balanced, like most of Treehouses offerings. It tastes to me like a more lightly hopped version of Julius, with lots of peach flavors. Really nice Pale Ale.

Poured from a 750ml bottle.
A - When I first poured this I thought it was a DIPA. It has that deep opaque orange color so typical of a DIPA. One finger head settles pretty quickly with some nice lacing.
S - Fairly pungent hoppy aroma.
T - Some citrus and piney.
M - Medium carbonation.
O - One of the best Pale Ale's I've ever had.

750 mL growler poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Pale orange. Small white head. Nice collar and surface wisping.

Smell - Light lemony and orange hop. Slight herbal character.

Taste - Tastes like amarillo hops. Has that lemony flavor and some floral notes. Cracker malt in the middle. Mild herbal flavor in the back.

Mouthfeel - Light body. Medium low carbonation.

Overall - Decent pale ale, but doesn't stand out as very exciting.
