Batch 2, 9.8% ABV version in the 750ml Tree House growler..

A: Nice and dark with a creamy mocha colored head about 1 inch thick which slowly fades but never disappears. Leaves a nice lacing on the glass. Good.

S: I get some roastiness and dark fruit upfront. Like a chocolate cranberry. Some more sweetness and dark fruit follow through the nose. Nice.

T: A slightly bitter watery roast upfront. Followed by a creamy coffee blend. Hints of dark cherry hidden on the back. Ok.

M: Medium body with a good carbonation. A dry finish. Decent.

O: All in all, this is a solid brew. I think it needs some more complexity for the higher ABV and style. On a positive note, you cannot taste the 9.8% ABV one bit. Actually tastes like it's more around a 6-7% brew with the amount of watery flavor I get.

750ml growler picked up yesterday at the brewery. ABV listed as 9.8%

Black pour with a tan head of about a finger. A thick ring, slight cap, and some lace remain.

Straight up roasty stout scent, simple but good. Lots of roasted and charred dark malts, dark fruit. Black cherries. I like it but it could use more potency.

Taste is a little more well-rounded but a very dark feel overall, roast, char, burnt dark chocolate, dark fruits, dark caramel, perhaps some licorice.some hops hidden in there somewhere.

Good body with nice medium carbonation. It has some alcohol warmth but not really a burden here.

Love the take on this one, straight up imperial stout with lots of burnt roasty malts and dark fruits, old school feel. Drinkability is a bit low (splitting a 750 was plenty for me) but I appreciate the robust yet straightforward flavor.

A-Black in my opinion. Slight head. Not too much light penetration. Tried its very best to lace the feeble plastic tasting cup.

S-Roasty with some hiccups of char. Maybe even a hint of dark fruit? Big whiffs of bitter, powdered baker's cocoa powder.

T-This Stout has a unique flavor. It has a special, somewhat tangy note that is a bit fruity. Then the triad of coffee, chocolate and smoke kick in. There is a lot going on here. I would love to have a larger sample to elaborate upon.

M-Respectable viscosity. The body has some heft but it goes down willingly. A noticeable bitterness which may be derived from all those dark malts and even some sneaky hoppiness.

O/D-My second Tree House brew. This one is pretty kick-ass as well. Its not a stunner but I think this unique and sometimes I have trouble finding unique qualities in Stouts.
