Zauber Brewing Company

Visited in early August 2017 as the brewpub was in transition under new ownership. Both Zauber brews (3) and 4 new and still unnamed beers (new brewmaster), as well as several other local beers, were on tap. I anticipate that the Zauber beers will soon be gone. Exceptionally friendly staff were clearly customer oriented. The taproom remains a center for futbol fans.

Stopped in with the wife for some games and drinks. They had a good selection of their beers on draft. We had to order food from the kitchen seperate but was very fast. They have a good selection of food from nachos to cuban sandwiches. Zauber had a great vibe with long tables and a good selection of board and card games to play. Overall this was a great experience for me and the wife and we will be back!

Cute but confused mixed of old and new, a little open concept German style beer hall with a little bakery and an outdoor front patio with picnic tables. Lots of German iconography, with a couple of TVs on both sides, albeit with no volume in order to encourage conversation and maybe a few 'ziggy zaggies' here or there.

Tap list is small, offering maybe 6-8 of their own brews with a couple guest lines. Brews are of a good quality, if maybe a little lighter in body than I'd prefer. It's a nice place to stop to start a little pub crawl, since it's a good primer and nothing will knock you on your ass.

 

 

This is one of those small breweries worth stopping at if you happen to ever find yourself thirsty while walking down the sidwalk out front of the bar. It will do the trick if you're looking for a basic beer or two, but it's not worth travelling to as any kind of destination brewery.

Their beers are mediocre-ly mediocre. They usually have a few of their own beers and some offerings from other breweries also, but still a fairly basic selection. Highly overpriced when compared to many other breweries (many better ones at that), and extremely overpriced if you're looking for something a little better than a run of the mill hefe or ipa. They upcharge SIGNIFICANTLY for their higher abv beers and other styles.

I have enjoyed their Portergeist, it's definitely the Zauber beer that I've liked the most.

Their staff seems attentive and smart. They also have a food window, but I didn't try it.

 

 

 

 

Zauber offers their own micro brews, along with 5 or 6 others on tap, usually Ohio-based beers. They are now serving food, which is a plus. The bathrooms are very clean!

Nice selection of different styles of ales mixed with a few guest taps and a nice selection of spirits. I was the first in the door so got excellent service and knowledge from the bartender who was friendly and helpful. Beers range in flavor profiles with some high notes. Nice local spot to hit in the Columbus area. Got our growlers and hit the road, but still was impressed for being open for such a short time.

Expect more good things from them with time and experience. Their glowing stars were the Portergeist and the Hefeweizen which were stunning and delicious.
