Big? Oh we went big here. Nap time will follow this beast.

A dark red, this one is going to black. A huge beer.

Red ale notes but none of the hops at all. Instead just rich toffee and vanilla.

Creamy rich toffee and vanilla. This flavor really needs more hop flavor.

I think we've got a good beer that just missed. A bit of hop character would turn this from good to great.

The body is an alluring and tawny burgundy with a thin built foam that dissipated a little too quickly.

The nose is thick and sweet with caramel, chocolate, fudge, toffee, butterscotch, coconut, vanilla and bourbon.

The taste starts with a thick and chewy toffee followed by dessert quality chocolate, caramel and butterscotch. It finishes with coconut and vanilla. The bourbonesque character is light and fleeting and compliments this very well.

Each year this partnership has gotten better by ten but it's going to be tough to top this.

Ringing in Lexington's Craft Beer Week, 2015 with an absolute bang, a unique taste emerges. Rich with barley and adding a dash of pecan and cocoa nib reveal a barleywine-type base but with a soothing and softer complexity to completely melt the senses.

Its deep chestnut hues shine bright with hints of bronze and garnet slicing through. A delicate creme of froth swirls gently above and begin to unlock the densely packed aromas of toffee, praline, pecan light and cocoa. Yet its lavish flavors coat the mouth with brown sugar, light molasses, maple pecan and firm toffee.

With the malt sweetness reigning supreme, peps of cocoa and nuttiness weave into the taste and so does the light woodsy and herbal hop counterpart that simply pulls the sweetness from cloying. With sweet and spicy rum warming the palate, the finish of port and jenever add to the complexity of taste.

Luscious, full-bodied and extending long and lumbered, even the small glass becomes a slow sipping affair. Its full appreciation of malt sugars and complementary spices provides a high degree of culinary delight to the tastebuds.

750 ml bottle into a pint glass. Pours a deep burgundy color with a thin, but dense topping of tan foam. Very interesting aroma on this one. Chocolate, maple, coconut, figs, honey, malt, and dark fruit. Not a strong aroma, but incredibly complex. Surprisingly heavy weight, with a thick, syrupy feel. Right up front, I get some alcohol. Heavy bourbon notes along with coconut, dark raspberries, figs, maple syrup, pecans, and honey. Finishes smooth with a warm, malty aftertaste.

A bit boozey, but then again I'm reviewing this one fresh off the bottling line. I'd love to have another to age for about 6 months.

Overall, this beer is blowing my mind. By far the best offering I've had from either of the breweries involved. This beer tastes like Christmas Eve in suburbanite America circa 1963. Think about it, and go drink this beer.

An exceptional collab effort that rivals the collaborations you've heard of. Take the Papaw's Red from Country Boy, and kick it up with pecans and cocoa nibs (from West Sixth, I presume), and you've got a winner. But at 13%, you might need help killing a 750ml.

Appearance: Pours slightly hazy with a deep tawny, copper color; the ecru head comes in under an inch but the beer is leggy, with dots of lace drizzling down the glass

Smell: Caramel and pecans, with a hint of cocoa; Bourbon and vanilla underpins

Taste: Liquid pecan praline on the tastebuds, with the cocoa adding depth; Bourbon and vanilla arrives with a boozy blast through the middle, with the pecan and caramel tones building into the finish

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low to moderate carbonation; some warmth in the gullet

Overall: Not for the faint of heart, this is a big, sweet brew that is an after-dinner sipper; I would characterize it as a Strong Ale for the purposes of BA categorization

Thanks, SPLITGRIN, for the opportunity
