West Sixth Brewing Company - West Sixth IPA. 7% ABV. 12oz can poured into snifter. Canned on 10/26/15.

Look: Nice copper hued body, with fair white two finger head from aggressive pour. The sticky lacing from the head remains throughout.

Smell: Apparent dank hops and juicy citrus/tropical fruit immediately. Mangoes, pineapple, and some peach are the most prominent fruits here. Very sweet smelling.

Feel: Thin body, with medium carbonation and creaminess.

Taste: Bitter hops and juicy fruit up front, and into the back end. Aftertaste is bitter hops, and some pine/earthy notes along with the tropical fruits. Not extremely bitter, however it is profound.

Overall: Nice balance of hops, fruits, and sweet malts here. A little too bitter at the moment, since just now getting into IPAs, but was enjoyable nonetheless.

The hops are dank and piney with a sweet backbone from the malt that creates a pretty drinkable 7% IPA that has a heavy hop presence. The carbonation is moderate and the finish is slightly bitter but not overly so. A big IPA here and worth a try!

12 oz. can into a New Belgium snifter. Pours a vibrant, slightly hazy golden and settles a dark copper color in the glass. Still pretty hazy, and topped with 1/2 a finger of bubbly, white foam. Quickly receded down into a modrate lacing. Juicy tropical fruit on the nose (mango and pineapple mainly), along with citrus and a sweet maltiness. Medium weight and very creamy on the feel. Lots of citrus and malt initially with a background of sweet tropical fruits. Slightly hoppy on the back end, but has a strong malt backbone. Very well balanced, albeit on the sweet side of the IPA spectrum. Finishes smooth and leaves a light hoppy bitterness and juicy fruit on the aftertaste.

Overall, very good. Being the same type of beer, and the same abv as Two Hearted (one of my favorites), I can't help but to compare. This one is a bit sweeter with more malt forwardness and less hops. Still well balanced, though. Plenty tasty enough for enjoying a 6 pack over the course of an evening. If I had to criticize, I'd say that this one was a little lighter all around. Taste-wise, this almost drinks like a session IPA .
