look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75

Appearance: Pours crystal clear and amber colored with a finger of foam and plenty of lacing action

Smell: Caramel and nectarine

Taste: Caramel and cracker malt forward, with a fruity character building; nectarine and earthy malt flavors through the middle, with the sweeter tones dominating the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: It's an amber, what do you expect?

Thanks, SPLITGRIN, for the opportunity

Pours transparent amber in color. Not a lot of head retention. Smells biscuity and grainy with caramel malts around. The flavor follows suit with a bready, grainy backbone, something nutty, and a subtle hop presence that seems to fit well into the beer's flavor profile. Slightly watery for it's style, but overall, a pretty decent amber. No bells and whistles, but highly drinkable and something I wouldn't turn down.

12 oz. can. Clear amber body with a small off-white head. Smells of bready malts, some caramel, and some floral and fruity notes. Tastes fruity and floral up front. Sweet bready malt backbone and some light bitterness and toasty malts in the finish. Medium body. Drinkable. Just not an exciting beer.

Had this on tap at Dundee Tavern. Color was a little more orange/copper than a lot of ambers, but definitely had that amber hue. Aroma was very light, as was the flavor that followed. Slight molasses and nut taste. Mouthfeel was good, very balanced. Slightly above average amber.

Not the deepest of amber hues, the color is a brilliant orange/red with a bubbly fleeting head.

The nose is weak but touches of caramel malt and roasted grain can be found. A touch of fruity, lemon hops can also be found but even weaker than the malt.

The taste is quite well balanced with an easy drinking hops flavor melded to a roasted grain flavor. What's perceptible in scent comes alive on the tongue. The roasted malt shoves its way to the front and than the end is eased in with a fruity hoppiness.

The feel is dry but refreshing yielding an easy drinking and well balanced offering.

I've had this beer on 3 or 4 occasions, and its tendency to give me a hangover more than the average beer certainly influences my rating. That said, it's not bad taste wise but it's not amazing either. At $10 a six pack it's not really a a great choice. I'm one of those beer drinkers who doesn't mind paying $7 to $8 for an amazing beer like Trappistes Rochefort 10, yet at the same time I still enjoy a cold Bud Lite after mowing the lawn. I confess I don't see the point of a beer like West Sixth Amber Ale, which is fairly expensive but not really all that special. Go big or go home, I say.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a cloudy brown color with a 1/23 inch head. Smell is of caramel malts, some hops. Taste is well balanced malts and hops, some caramel, but not as pronounced as in the smell. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall an easy drinking and sessionable beer.
