I took the Saturday 2pm tour and had the best time. Joe, one of the owners, gave the tour. Very personable, he was brutally honest throughout. I learned a great deal and was entertained. After the tour I sat in the taproom and enjoyed a well constructed Porter and Brown ale. The architecture of the original building is well preserved and lends to the atmosphere. The employees are knowledgeable and kind and are great reflections of Lexington. I consider West Sixth an absolute must if you come to visit or live nearby.

Probably the best brewery I've been to in terms of a cool, laid back atmosphere and a friendly staff who obviously love their jobs. All the staple beers are on tap, plus a handful of seasonals/experimentals/limited stuff. Three different areas to sit and drink and/or eat, plus a small outside patio. They also house a rollerderby team, yoga club, running club, and a fish farm inside the building. Pretty cool stuff for the whole family.

Great atmosphere. Not my favorite local brew.

This beer is better than most of the offerings of West Sixth Brewery. It might be their best. I'm talking about Cocoa Porter brewed with cocoa nibs. It is way better than their interpretation of an IPA. Their IPA is like dating a cat lady without a litter box. This beer actually tastes good and doesn't offend the senses. It doesn't deliver on the cocoa flavor as much as I imagined it would from the name, but it is a good dark porter with slight cocoa hints in the flavor. West Sixth is a new company getting it's feet wet. They will get better. At least I imagine they will out of necessity to survive in a demanding market. West Sixth doesn't have a signature brew, or even a brew they can call their own. They need that. They don't stand out for anything. And based on their IPA, they might even be failing. Seriously, I haven't been exposed to that much cat piss since I volunteered to help a cat lady on social security to fireproof her home.

Very cool place! Went here on a trip to Lexington with a few friends. Very friendly staff, good beers, cheap merch, and they let you bring food in! We brought in some really tasty pizza from Mellow Mushroom and had dinner while we chilled with some beers before an awesome concert at the Lexington Opera House.
