on-tap at 8th Wonder Brewery

L: pale gold with white head, no stick or lace; 100% clear with little to no amber

S: green grassy hoppy with hints of bread/sweet malt behind it; this brew was definitely dry-hopped -- or it comes off that way. nothing overboard but definite grass

T: grassy hop bite up front but immediately sweetened out by a strong malt backbone; nothing about the brew tastes like "cream" until about halfway into the pint, and then suddenly this creamy light sweetness takes over the hops and it tastes like whipped cream ... again, it's not overboard, but that sweetness really starts hitting home over time

F: solid all around, very drinkable without being watery

O: easily my favorite 8th Wonder brew of the three I tried at the brewery (MCA, Alternate Universe were the others). it's much more hoppy than "cream ale" sounds like it should be, but the sweet cream notes shine through over time -- and whatever it is, I love it. they're supposed to start canning this summer, and I'll be searching for this one when they do.

12 oz. can
Served in a nonic pint glass

At first look this beer is pale yellow and hazy. I take a closer look and can see suspended yeast particles. It is topped with three inches of fluffy, white head that leaves some decent lacing.

It has a cooked grain smell.

The taste has an almost cooked corn taste. There is a slight bitterness in the finish.

Medium mouthfeel

It not bad for what it is. It is a pre-Prohibition style cream ale and an homage to the foamy swill served at the Astrodome. I could definitely see myself downing a few at a ballgame in the bleachers on a hot summer day.

This one pours a slightly opaque bright gold color that has a very white and thick long-lived head that settles very slowly leaving a complex and heavy lacing down the glass.

The nose is a peppery hoppiness with some notes of grass, salty air and camphor.

The taste is a nice bitter hop with a creamy malty bed. Not much complexity here, just a decent beer.

The mouthfeel is creamy and smooth exactly like we would expect from a cream ale style beer.

Overall this is a drinkable and good beer. Not great, nor bad. Just a slightly above average beer that is quite drinkable.
