Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a freshly washed Snorkel glass.

Appearance: A deep dark brown to almost black body with a khaki colored head, about 1/2 a fingers worth that dissipated to a thin cap. Some of that brown body shows more when held up to the light.

Aroma: There's just layers upon layers going on here. Dark fruits, plums/prunes, dates, a hint of coffee, a tiny notion of funkiness for lack of a better term.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Incredible. There's just a huge wave of sweet, yet subdued, plum flavor upfront, with an almost hay-like dryness in the middle and then after the swallow this beautiful dark roasted coffee flavor comes in and just mellows it out. Let me just say that this is a very calming beer to drink. One to sip and savor. There's more going on here than I can put into words. It's not overly abrasive with any one flavor and the carbonation is light and appealing. Not a real high abv at 8.3% and I'm not getting any of it.

Overall: It appears that I am liking this beer more than most who have reviewed this beer, but I don't care. This one is hitting the spot today and tantalizing my tongue with it's flavors. I sure as Hell would NOT turn this one down if offered again in the future!

I bought a bomber of Guilt Belgian Coffee Porter in a bottle shop. Poured in to a pint glass.

Pours a black walnut color, opaque, with a thin tan head.

Smell is very sweet, molasses and burned sugar scents along with a smell of booze.

Taste is also very sweet up front, with some coffee bitterness and strong booze finish, with a little alcohol heat.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly cloying.

Overall more of an imperial porter in my book. A lot of alcohol heat and bourbon flavors tend to overpower the traditional beer and even the coffee flavors.

I wish the coffee beers would say "coffee" in the title. Hard to tell what’s under all that coffee . While not overly strong, coffee dominates aroma, taste and palate. They should serve this at Starbucks. Note:My bottle did not say "Coffee" on it., like the picture.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color with a tiny head of tan colored foam. The head fades almost instantly leaving a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is actually very light of coffee, with just a hint of it in the nose. It is however rather strong in a sweet milk chocolate smell mixed with aromas of caramel and some smells of vanilla and a bit or roasted malt. Mixed with a little bit of yeast and some grain the overall smell, while not huge on coffee, is rather sweet and inviting.

Taste – The taste begins with strong roasty malt flavor mixed with a surprisingly strong coffee taste (at least in context of the weak coffee nose). Upfront there is also some sweeter caramel and chocolate tastes with the chocolate fading over time. As the chocolate fades some light yeast and grain flavors join the taste profile. With these changes and an increase in the coffee and roast, one is left with a moderately bitter, but lightly sweetened dark roast coffee flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is rather low. The thin body, while not great for the darker flavors of the brew, was nice for the yeasty and sweeter tastes. This mixed with the darker flavors of the brew, which were enhanced by the slightly lower carbonation, give a rather decent feel overall.

Overall – An interesting coffee porter overall. Thinner in nature then the normal porter with a bit less sweetness, but all while still holding a nice coffee flavor. While not my fav. In the porter department, it was a nice try and one I would recommend merely due to the fact that it is a coffee beer brewed with Belgium yeast (this was my first in that category…)

A: The beer is very dark brownish red in color (nearly opaque when viewed from afar). It poured with a inger high light tan head that gradually died down and never completely faded away.
S: Light to moderate aromas of Belgian yeast, raisins, and roasted coffee beans are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of dark fruits along with notes of coffee beans and Belgian yeast plus hints of candy sugars. No bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This "Belgian Coffee Porter" definitely has a Belgian twist, especially from the aromas and flavors of Belgian yeast and dark fruits.

I don't see a date on this one. Couple months old most likely?

A: Pours a not-quite-black with a tall, foamy light brown head. Great head retention but no lacing at all.

S: A little coffee, a little bit of char and a little bit of earthiness. Some light spices, cloves I assume. And finally, an overlay of dark fruits.

T: Coffee is much stronger here in the taste. Up front there is a ton of a nice earthy, bitter coffee with loads of sweet dark fruits. Berries and raisins. Get some burnt caramel in there too, especially in the middle. Finish is more bitterness from the coffee and even a hint of burnt bread. Cloves. Lingering char in the aftertaste.

M: Medium bodied, smooth but with a charry character.

O: Interesting. A belgian coffee porter. Lots of bitter coffee and char, sweet dark fruits and earthy/spiciness from the yeast. Pretty well balanced and fairly complex. I didn't dislike it but it's hard to tell if it all works together well.

Thanks to woemad for this one. Pretty nice, even the coffee doesn't really detract too much.
