A bottle poured into a Nonic.
A straw colored pour with light random lacing.
Toasted malt and mild hops profile, a refreshing Kolsch with a light mouthfeel. An easy drinking Kolsch.

Poured from a 1 pt 0.9-oz can into two highball glasses (the closest thing we have to genuine Stangen!)
Look: Pale clear gold, bubbles rising, with a three-inch white head with good retention, leaving abundant lacing.
Nose: Cracker, some malt, and a hint of lemon citrus.
Taste: Attack follows the nose exactly, and the the malt strengthens and lingers. Just enough bitterness in the finish to balance.
Mouthfeel: Medium thin, appropriate to style.
Overall: Tasty, drinkable. This has long been my favorite Kölsch or Kölsch-style ale — I always have a four-pack of it in the cellar —and I’m embarrassed that I hadn’t previously reviewed it (!)

Maybe one of the best Kolsch options out there that is regularly available in the local store. Easy drinking, not filling, and very good flavor profile for the category.

Poured from a bottle.
Pour || Light gold, translucent. No foam.
Smell || Light apple-cider, very little nose
Taste || Carbonation is light, not aggressive. Not much body / complexity, but medium to finish ends with a very pleasant wheat grain flavor. Hop flavor is more of a background ad-lib, rather than something front and center... or even something supplemental. The grain flavor is the one and only (but pleasantly strong) flavor.
Comparing this to the Koshihikari Echigo, the rice grain is sweeter (this one feels more like a grain bread, with a rye note after it goes down), and the grain taste starts earlier (For the Echigo, the sweet rice grain taste comes later as a finish, but this one is clearly grain from midway onwards).
Imagine this goes great with a polish hotdog or bratwurst... or a pastrami sandwich.

A rare find that I had been wanting to try...pours with a straw color and a fizzy head and smells of straw. Taste is very solid, like a very good Helles. Probably my favorite Kolsch (which isn't normally a preferred style for me). Very well-balanced, an excellent malty flavor with a good hoppy back end, nice & crisp.

Excellent example of the Kolsch style of beer from Cologne from one of the older modern breweries former Ed after the city was largely destroyed in WW2. Clear clean and refreshing beer. Very balanced. I tried it on the recommendation of a beer retailer, and it was pretty good.

A - Pours a light gold color with a thick creamy bright white layer of foam that doesn't dissipate. Carbonation is slow and steady.
S - Crackery earthy honey malt aroma.
T - Crackery malt with light earthy hops to balance out any sweetness.
M - Medium body with very delicate carbonation.
O - Very solid and hitting the spot after mowing the grass.

Top notch Kölsch.
Nice and crackers in the malt, with a beautiful balance of hops.
Nice and crisp.
Great 2 finger stark white head.
I'll definitely drink this one again.

An outstanding Kolsch!
Taste is a 5. Tasted again in July 2025. This time in a stange glass. Very complex flavor. Almost wine-like. Still very impressed. I guess I should be as this comes from origin of Kolsch in Germany.
