16 oz. Can

Mellow gold color. A formidable white crown forms, falls pretty quick. Plenty of thin lace left over.

Classic Kolsch nose: sour bready and dry wheat scented malt, sour mash, green veggie salad and slightly herbal hops with cream o corn.

The flavor is classically Kolsch, a very mild but sour malty taste, with corn and wheat
Very subtle hops that have a grassy, herbal effect, clean malt has some wheat aspects, nothing too complex but very effective. I have had more interesting and complex versions, this one comes across as a bit "thin" overall in flavor. Perhaps suffering from a bit of "import itis" . ....maybe not as fresh as it could be. It is in a tall boy can, so you would think the travel might be easier.....(?)

The feel is as light as it gets, very gentle with a long, malty finish that never gets dry. Pretty relaxed, not really crisp with a ling, malty end.

This is a nice change of pace from the big, local Vermont hop bombs I've been into lately. A classic and Authentic German standout. Not a complex or deep brew, but sooo damn easy to drink. The simplicity and balance is the virtue here.

Crisp, but not totally dry. A prominent apple sweetness. Really clean flavor profile nonetheless, with a very slight lingering hop bitterness.

Overall an easy drinker that's somewhat of an apple bomb. Hops help to balance the sweetness and deliver an overall pleasant experience.

On tap in a half-liter dimpled mug.

Clean and clear yellow, slightly golden, color with a fluffy 1F white cap. Lots of bubbles.

Grassy and floral hop aromas. Herbal and earthy.

Fruity and flavorful. Pale malt, light yeast. Some funk that's tempered by biscuit malt flavor.

Light body with a clean finish and no aftertaste.

I like this style of light ale and this is the real deal.

Reissdorf Kölsch
Aroma 8/12 Comment on malt, hops, esters, and other aromatics
Moderately high grainy malt aroma with moderate bready and doughy notes.moderate hop aroma with moderate low grassy and floral notes.
Appearance 2/3 Comment on color, clarity, and head (retention, color, and texture)
Light yellow in color, clear with small parts of yeasty sediment. Quarter-inch persistent white head.
Flavor 14/20 Comment on malt, hops, fermentation characteristics, balance, finish/aftertaste, and other flavor characteristics
Moderately high bitterness dominates with moderate floral and spicy hop flavor. Low grainy, bready, and biscuity malt character. Balance is towards the hops, but the malt provides a nice support. Slight oxidation shows through as the beer warmth.
Mouthfeel 4/5 Comment on body, carbonation, warmth, creaminess, astringency, and other palate sensations
Medium-light body with moderately high carbonation. No alcohol warmth detected. Slight chalky astringency that may be due to oxidation.
Overall Impression 7/10 Comment on overall drinking pleasure associated with entry, give suggestions for improvement
Overall a pale, clear, crisp and refreshing beer that encourages drinking with its assertive hop flavor carried by a light malt graininess. The oxidation can be moderated by avoiding splashing the wort and proper bottling techniques.
