Pours chestnut colored with 3 fingers of tan head despite a careful pour. Stellar lacing & good head retention

S: Roastyness & not much of it , carob notes as well

T: Roastyness & walnut up front, along with some chicory notes, plus baker's chocolate, pineyness & grapefruit up front. More grapefruit, pineyness & dryness as this warms, a touch of aspirin as well. Finishes with much grapefruit & pineyness, plus roasty notes

MF: Medium bodied with firm carbonation. Carbonation turns creamy as this warms, nice balance & a general warming sensation

Decent Casacadian ale with an imperial slant, doesn't quite turn the corner toward greatness, but drinkable enough. A little less astringency would've helped

Doesn't have the strong floral presence of an IPA but the bitterness is notable without being extreme. Had it in both bottle and on tap and prefer it from the keg. The bottles I've had are slightly overcarbed but it pours perfect in the taproom. Not quite as balanced as Wookey Jack but still an excellent beer. I just heard they are moving it to a seasonal and that is disappointing.

One of my favorites from this brewery. A great looking beer on tap at their local taproom with a generous head. Fine lacing throughout; a very good IPA feel with just he right amount of bitterness and citrus. Nicely carbonated on tap, never had it in a bottle. A very drinkable double IPA.
