12oz can, from a generous sort in the environs of last week's GABF in Denver.

This beer pours a clear, pale golden yellow colour, with three fat fingers of puffy, frothy, and loosely foamy eggshell white head, which leaves some random splatters of streaky, sudsy lace around the glass as things work their way south.

It smells of crisp, crackery pale malt, dry lemon pith, a slight gasoline astringency (in a good way!), and peppy leafy, grassy, and herbal hops. The taste is more bready in its pale, doughy malt offerings, with a muddled citrus furniture polish note (again, hardly a bad thing, here), a hint of white pepper spice, and earthy, leafy, and lawnmower-exhaust grassy hops.

The bubbles are moderate in strength, and pleasantly fizzy in their manifestation, the body a genial medium weight, and a bit prickly in its attempt at smoothness, but for once, we ain't lookin' too stringently at that. It finishes fairly dry, the crackery malt and various lingering hops colluding as such.

It's not often that I come across a Pils made with such an adhering emulation of the Bohemian greats - they even tried to pun-up the name in the same vein, to more limited acclaim. Anyways, very tasty, very well made, and very eye-opening for this way-north northerner on what's going on down there in NW Arkansas.

This is a revised review. Picked me up a bomber this time. No obvious freshness date. Pours out to a generous white head and minor lacing. Color is pale golden. Aroma is a spicy/grassy hop and clean malt. Flavor is grainy/malty with a spicy hop flavor that lingers and a sharp, dry bitter finish. Mouthfeel is on light side. The beer delivers the hop character of a Czech Pils but the malt is less chewy as it almost always is in a US brewed version. Good stuff.

Best before date of 5 Aug 2014

Pours an effervescent honey color with 2 fingers of eggshell colored head. Very nice lacing & head retention

S: Faint breadyness, white grapes; floral hops pick up as this warms & a little soapiness

T: Lemony hops, white grapes, some grassiness & a little bready sweetness up front. A little bit of leafy & metallic hops as this warms, slight graininess as well, plus dryness, grassy hops as well. Finishes slightly bready, with subdued graininess/dryness

MF: Medium bodied, lively carbonation, nice balance

Very easy to drink, would buy this again if in six pack format. Not quite a great Pils, but close. Well worth a try

Can poured into weizen glass. BB 062517. Yeah it's expired but I'll try it anyways.

A: Semi aggressive pour gives us three fingers of bleached head. Beer is LIVELY. Very well carbonated as bubbles rush to the surface. Head retention is stellar as is lacing. Beer itself is a pale straw.

S: Pilsner. Soft malts. Hops are herbal and slightly green fruit.

T: I think it's starting to decline. This one is hard to describe. Hit of malty sweetness up front but then things get weird.
It reminds me of a very soft sour/wild ale. It's lightly acidic in taste with a bit of funkiness on the mid palate. The hops put up a mildly herbal bitterness on the finish. Crisp on the end.

M: Soft and pillowy but still has the zing of carbonation.

O: I like it. I imagine it's not what the brewer had in mind, but given that it's already shot past the shelf life (that brewers are notorious for lengthening) combined with not being stored cold yielded a very interesting pilsner. Or hell, maybe it's infected. Still tasted good to me. I've marked the tasting score as a 3 because this is not anywhere close to what a pilsner should taste like but is still pleasant.

Grabbed a growler of this while in Hot Springs.

Poured a clear yellow with straw and vegetal notes to the nose. Tasted sweet and vegetal (corn) and not much else. Leaves me wondering if any hops were put in this thing?

Perhaps I'm missing something, but this one doesn't do much of anything for me.

Pours a clear, straw color. 1/2 inch head of a white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of citrus hops, pale malt, slight wheat, hint of pine, hint of sweet malt, and a a hint of earthy malt. Fits the style of a Czech Pilsner. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of pale malt, slight caramel malt, hint of earthy malt, slight citrus hops, and slight wheat. Overall, good appearance, aroma, body, and blend.

A: Pours a brilliantly clear golden yellow color. A dense tow finger white head forms with good retention. Plenty of lace left behind.
S: Dough and grainy malts, baked bread. Earthy and grassy hops in the finish. Simple, but very enjoyable.
T: Baked bread, dough and grains. There is a light sweetness. Grassy hops and lingering bitterness. Yep, love how simple this is.
M/O: A light to medium body. Good carbonation, crisp and supper clean. An excellent pilsner that is really well balanced and simple. Something I want to keep coming back to.

Another clean, balanced and well made offering from their Public House in North Little Rock. I'm a fan, and looking forward to having some more when I get a chance.

Draft.pint at Flying Saucer in Little Rock

Pours clear, pale yellow with a small raft of frothy foam that settles to a thin ring around the rim. Clingy, but nor sticky.

Aroma of pale malt and grassy hops. Hint of sour yeast. Grainy, horse feed lingers underneath in a good way. Earthy. White pepper note is mild. No real lemony hops or malt sweetness in nose. Promising.

Taste is clean and crisp, with a nice balance of pale malt and herbal hop bite. Dry grains, hay, lemongrass, faint pepper, powdery astringency is not off-putting. Right on the mark for the style.

Light body, but not watery, moderately smooth, some alcohol in the nose, firm bitterness, lingering dry finish.

Well done pilsener. Crisp, refreshing, appropriately dry, but with good flavors of malt and noble hops. If this were $5 a sixer, I'd drink the shit out of it. Recommemded .

I love this beer!!! One of the best pilsners I've had. Pour a beautiful dark golden straw color. Nice head but not too large. It smells slightly spicy, and that is what you taste at first but not dry. I swear they are using Noble Hops. The tastes become much more malty, a nice warm biscuity taste. The mouthful is light but not thin. This Pilsner is right up there with Noble Pils by SA and SN Summerfest. Behemoth is a great beer for summer and the rest of the year as well.

a style thats not all that easy to get excited about in my opinion, i like a pils, but never really interesting enough to get me off in most circumstances. this one is well made, very simple and lean, but not particularly compelling. i enjoy its tremendously light mouthfeel and high carbonation, good summer beer and certainly preferable to anything happening in the macro yellow beer world. it seems somewhat under flavored to me, not that it isnt a little hoppy because it is, but the grain doesnt have its usual fresh cereal flavor to it, and i miss it without anything there to take its place. some good grassy bitterness on the back end and a very dry finish, but for me its too light in grain and yeast flavor, and loses some of the features i like in a lager like this. well made beer, but probably my least favorite of the core beers i got to drink. nice folks though, and all the other beers are much more interesting...
