This is my 150th rated beer. And for a reason. This beer is the culmination of many tastes and types of beers I have tried until now.

You could call this beer in good Dutch "totaalbier". It has the roasty touch and colour of the amber style. The hops give it great pleasure/palate. Some honey. Heavy liquorice.

And why give it a 5 for Feel? Because the drinkability and softness is so very great!

Great brew. Best kept secret :)

Purchased at Albert Heijn as a single bottle. A cloudy golden brown in glass with moderate head and some lacing. Taste is great, with moderate hops, slight carbonation, and a mild citrus taste (I Hate "fruit in the beer" taste usually, but this is subdued and pleasant) and a hint of spice. Label is a bit hokey but definitely one that I would buy again....and again.

Neat beer, has a pretty pour with thick foam, playful and rich flavor and surprisingly easy to drink.

Great beer. It tastes like a blend between an IPA and a Belgian strong ale.
The hops are smooth and not too pronounced, I guess some will find this beer a jack of no trades, because it doesn't stand out.
The smell is like a typical IPA, but more subdued, Piny, herbal, slightly canabis. Not as skunky canabis-y (with this I mean the Skunk weed smell) as Jopen's Mooie Nel, a beer I reviewed recently.
In an 'objective' sense (if this is possible) Jopen Mooie Nel is superior to Bootjes bier, with a stronger more outspoken flavor but I prefer the smoother (less hoppy) character of Bootjes bier.

Nice retro label on the bottle. Hazy amber with a big frothy head. Typical USA hop IPA smell: tangerine, grapefruit and galia melon. Fruits return in the initial taste, but spices are also very prominent here. Malts and esters are pretty much absent: the hops and added spices (coriander, ginger) tend to dominate. The swallowing is quite bitter, with a strong resin/pine profile here. Aftertaste lingers well. There are a lot of flavours in the taste, but it's not very balanced. Due to that, it tends to get a bit bland after a while. It's no session beer with 7.0 abv, but due the advised drinking temperature of 3 degrees Celsius, it still feels very refreshing. A nice variant on the usual belgian beer line-up.
