Hazy ang golden with a thin velvety white head. It has a funky coriander smell. The taste is sweet and sour, lemons and banana. Very smooth and bubbly. A very easy drinking and unique beer. I will be buying more of this.

8/9/15 DE pool

Pours hazy orange with kind of weak thin head.

The smell at first was sour. Actually very sour with hints of Belgium spice popping through. As it sat the sour faded and the light smell of coriander and other typical Belgium spice dominated. Never to bold.

The taste was good. It was a light spice and stayed balanced throughout with a subtle sourness to it.

Overall pretty good beer. If it were sold as a 6 pack I'd be all over it.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 9/27/2015. Pours lightly hazy golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of herbal/earthy yeast spiciness and light tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt flavors; with nice malt/yeast/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good Belgian pale ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Appearance – Cloudy straw like colouration with a very decent head of tightly cropped white foam (some rocky patches) that last a very good amount of time, 5 mins by my count. This head finally dies to a healthy lace that has an interesting patchy nature but still looks great, however it leaves little evidence of itself in the glass afterwards.

Smell – Sweet malt that is bready in character but there is also plenty of orange aroma in here too. Some pepper and clove style spice. Pretty good but not the best bouquet I have found in the style.

Taste – Sweet and mild but very good all the same! The taste is best described as almost flora in its subtlety. There is the same orange and spice combo as the nose coupled with a funny sourness that perfectly offsets and balances the sweetness. As I drink I even get tiny flourishes of banana.

Mouthfeel – Full and creamy! This one is very smooth with a lovely tingle and a lightly drying end.

Overall – This one goes down a treat and I only wish it was easy to find in the UK but as it is I will drink my fill here in the Netherlands. Another winner from Belgium!

A: A big rocky white head poured into the Orval glass with long lasting retention. The first 2/3rds of the beer was pale gold with great clarity, but after swirling up the last 3rd the sediment provided a murkey dark haze. the foam clung to the side of the glass with streaky vertical lacing.

S: Nice medium spicey, rustic, almost brett like yeast character with hay, lemon and floral pear like aromas. Mild saaz like hop character that rounds out the esters with noble, damp leave spiciness. Light sweetness overall.

T: With a bright hop earthy hop character in the beginning with mild bitterness the first sip is very refreshing. A banana, clove and doughy bread flavor come through next - reminiscent of a hefe yeast but with more malt character. Sweetness is low-mild with the hops helping out in the finish. The balance is between the yeast and the hops with an edge on the yeast ever so slightly.

M: Despite the high carbonation level the mouthfeel is creamy and not abrasive. Mild alcohol warming in the chest. Medium bodied with a finish that makes it feel bigger then ~6% but like most Belgian styles very “digestible” (drinkable).

O: A hoppy, yeast forward BPA thats very drinkable and makes me think of warmer days. After visiting Antwerp and seeing ads for this beer a few places I was glad to see this at a local beer store. Worth the purchase if you like the style.
