I was very underwhelmed by this place and was left scratching my head at the ratings on here. The beer list was solid but nowhere close to spectacular. The atmosphere wasn't great either - very dark (not in a good way), kind of run down and very stuffy with no A/C (was there on a very hot summer day). Not worth going out of your way for, but if you are in the area, it's worth stopping by for a pint.

I've been exploring the different beer destinations around my new office so I stopped in at the Wurst Place last week on the high recommendations of this website. Boy howdy; I think this place may have exceeded my already high expectations.

The beer list isn't huge, but the 20 or so taps they have are extremely well-curated. Why does a sausage place have three sours on tap? What?? Each selection looked awesome, and I am highly anticipating returning here for more extraordinary beer.

My waiter, Bob, turned out to be the owner. He is fantastically knowledgeable about beer and we were chatting on his different offerings. Apparently he has tons of bottles on offer, including, he claims, the largest selection of sours in the state. I don't know if that's true, but I think I will be aiming to find out.

Last but not least, the food is great. I had a spicy bison sausage with some caramelized onions -- superb. Long story short -- come here. Visit this place. And you, too, will be awed.

That it's taken someone to come up with a business like this so long in a beer swamped place like Seattle is baffling. But I'm thankful to have it!

I dig the atmosphere. It's obvious that Bob, the owner, is extremely passionate about beer. I didn't have to visit many times before he recognized me, and would excitedly tell me about new offerings, or slide a small glass of something he thought I'd like in front of me. You really can't beat service like that.

And generally, that mentality carried over to his employees too. I appreciate so much when businesses work hard to get good people on staff, and just as importantly, treat them well. If they're happy, they're more likely to be good to the customers. The biggest knock against the service is the hours. Hopefully the demand for nightlife grows in SLU and Bob can justify expanding their hours.

I'm a huge fan of bratwurst and the like and they have both traditional sausages and more extravagant varieties with meats like wild boar, buffalo, and rattesnake. Fries and tots are available with several sauces, almost all of which are very tasty. There should be something for everyone.

And yes, the beer is great. There's always several really intriguing options and a usually a variety of styles as well. This is a destination I'd direct anyone in the area to check out when looking for a great beer.

Wow. This place rocks. This was suggested as a place to check out by staff at both The Harbour Pub and Bainbridge Island Brewing after visiting Bainbridge Island. It was a little hard to find and looks empty from the outside but walk in and's bigger than it appears and has a totally cool atmosphere. Just as another reviewer stated "I was killed with kindness when I entered" There were 23 taps with an incredible well thought out beer lineup. They had 5 IPAs including Boneyard Hop Venom and RPM, Balebreaker, a Cascade live barrel elderberry sour, Fremont Summer Ale (they also sent me to the Fremont brewery, which was awesome!) Black Xantus (which I had never tried on tap) and too many more to list. I also picked up 3 bottles of Cascade sours that I had never tasted. Anna the bartender was friendly, funny and beer savvy. Tons of Amazon employees here, 2 guys at the bar said the beer list changes almost daily. The sausages or wursts all looked great, but on recommendation from my new bar friends I went with the spicy smoked elk with cheddar & jalapenos plus some Belgian fries with an onion dip called Bastard Sauce...fantastic. Funky colorful art and design plus a well thought out Funk playlist. I'll be back!

This has become one of my "go to" places in Seattle for a great tap selection.

The tap list always has a really nice array of styles and they tend to put great brews on tap. If you're looking for anything Boneyard in Seattle, this is the place. They do Brats, Fries and Tots for food. What more do you need with a beer?

Always have had great service and the food is always really good. Prices are really great as well.

Great place to grab some beers after work. Sometimes staff can be slow when it gets busy, but they are friendly and knowledgeable. Sausages aren't my thing, but are pretty good if you like them. Tots and fries are a great snack. They have a great selection, and I appreciate always having a sour.

The Wurst Place is fairly new but already beats most of the well established beer bars in Seattle. You want to have good quality beers and brats with your buddies or your girl? Definitely come here. Located in South Lake Union on republican and west lake ave, it's very easy to drive to, they have free parking on the top level garage, plus if you have no car, bus routes from all over Seattle get here very quick.

The beers here are well thought out and planned with 22 taps to give an array of choices. Leaving the customer with a variety of hand picked authentic beers for novices and experts to try. They are the only bar I have ever seen to put korbinian on tap. Plus they have an all stainless steel tap system so you don't get that brass flavored bite from older bars. And once again, I have to say the selection is top notch. Oh and don't forget about their bottle selections either!

Service is outstanding. The manager and all the bartenders are very knowledgeable and super friendly. They'll chat with you with you and give recommendations for you to try. They're all around good guys. Casey, one of the bartenders, is a very affable guy, great dude that will chat your ear off about exotic beers and his home brews. Talk to this guy, and you'll learn a thing or two.

Food: brats and beer, what more can you ask for? Nurnburger and wild boar are my favorite. I swear, the wild boar they use is the one that killed Robert Baratheon. And try rattlesnake with the toppings on the side, the flavors will be more apparent. The reason I gave them a 4.5 is because they should have a salad on the menu for those of us with gfs that don't eat brats. But the best thing about this place is the mustard bar. Man, they have everything from basic Dijon to curried mustard to creole mustard. The best mustard bar in Seattle.

All in all, I give The Wurst Place 10/10 stars for their generally unique style, the great beer and food, and one of a kind service. Come in, you won't regret it!

A: From the moment I walked in I was killed with kindness, by the servers and the manager. The place is a little chilly, once I walked in it was a tad frigid but luckily they had some beer to warm me up. Once you walk in the kitchen is immediately in front of you and the bar and additional seating is off to the left. We grabbed a seat at the nice sized L shaped bar. Additional seating off to the left. We were here with about six or seven other patrons shortly after lunch. Don't lose your cool getting here because you have to fight the Mercer mess to get here.

Q: Amazing. Every beer I had was tasty, top notch without freshness issues.

S: Outstanding. Pleasant, outgoing, prompt and these guys know the beer. Not only do they know it pretty well but they enjoy it themselves. My wife and I chatted up the beertender/sever for quite some time and even found out we knew some of the same BA's.

S: Very well rounded draft list. 18 well thought out handles. I had a Uinta BBN BA Cockeyed Copper, St Bernardus 12 mixed w/ saisons, IPA's, porters..something for everyone. The bottle selection consists of Fremont B Bomb, HoTD Matt and Cherry Adam with some Sucaba plus much more.

F: Good. Interesting menu. Prices are decent. Next time I may go for the rattlesnake sausage.

The wife and I dug this place ALOT!
