A: Clear copper with decent stark-white head that sits on top awhile.

S: Pine, pineapple, nuts, toffee, and baked bread. There is an underlying sweet smell to this – like bubblegum – that’s appealing, in addition to a big hop aroma.

T: Dry pine, citrus, floral qualities, bit of honey, nuts, bread. There is a ton of dry bitterness here and a nice sour grapefruit taste and kind of a honeynut Cheerio taste going on also.

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Slick and oily.

D: This is very good although I still prefer Witchshark in the imperial IPA category from Bellwoods.

Really hazy bright yellow color with slightly off-white head. Aroma is dank, oniony but also tropical with sweet fruits. Taste starts quite bitter up-front, dank, really hoppy, chivey, some clean malt in the background, really well balanced. Medium plus body, smooth mouthfeel. Overall it's a great, NE style DIPA with a very well hidden ABV.

Purchased at Bellwoods brewery for around $7.00 for a 500ml bottle. Mighty expensive. Served at 7deg C in a tulip

A- Opens well and pours a decent head that films out in one minute. Dark gold and clear.

S- Oodles of hops here. Dry hopped galore. Smells like the C hops and some summit.

T- Wet hopped galore. Hops all around but not so much acid that it screws everything up. Very good blend. Has a two row malt backbone that stabilizes the beer well. Zero alcohol flavor here. Good grapefruit and piney goodness. Not overpowering in any particular flavor.

M- A bit lacking here. Dry and bitter. Not in a good IPA way.

O- Very good beer. Enjoyable and refreshing. Will try again if I see it on tap

Food Pairing

This rather good IPA went well with.... California roll sushi!

Enjoy

Happy IPA day. Seems like there's a beer celebration of some sort every day of the year. Fine with me. Thanks for this fresh bottle Sammy! 8%abv

Appearance. Pours a hazy gold with almost two fingers of frothy white head, moderate retention, fades to a thick skim.

Smell. Big juicy grapefruits, lemon rinds, some tropical fruits and a little toasty light malt and cedar.

Taste. Sweet tropical fruits, toasty light malts, sweet citrus, bitter oily finish. Really nice.

Mouthfeel. Medium+ body, medium-low carbonation. Oily finish.

Overall. Great stuff, big and hoppy. Awesome way to celebrate this, the greatest holiday ever known to mankind, IPA Day.

Bottle: Poured a bright amber color ale with a large foamy head with good carbonation. Aroma of juicy floral green hops with loads of citrus notes and some piney notes also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by loads of fresh juicy citrus notes with some piney notes also noticeable. Bitterness is kept at a minimal level and the malt presence is discreet. Body is full enough for style with good carbonation. Super fresh and super enjoyable IIPA form Bellwoods.

Poured from a bomber into a stemmed tulip glass and shared with friends.

Pours a clear copper with 3 fingers of thick, billowy head falling slowly leaving massive lacing. A nice nose but not massive like some other IIPA; lots of sweet citrus (oranges and tangerines) and a big blast of spicy/piney bittering hops. The taste speaks of Boogie Monster’s true colors, a hop bomb! There is a big bittering hop presence here with big spicy, floral, piney flavor. It’s not without a caramel, bready malt character at the start, but it transitions quickly to hoppy bliss and the finish is long and dry. An appropriate body and carbonation make it smooth and bubbly. Really nice!

Thanks to Phyl21ca for this.

Good stuff but expected a bit more hoppiness from these guys. Still, can't go wrong.

A-Hazy but still bright golden yellow with a white head that lingers, good lacing.
S-I get lots of citrus and a pleasant malt backbone, reminiscent of Carastan/Carafoam malt. There is also a subtle honey note
M-Peppery on the tongue and at the back of the throat. Crisp and dry
T-Dry and spicy upfront with a sweetness that comes in afterward. There is a puckering effect that comes at the end from bitterness of the hops and carbonation
O-Solid IPA
