Notes / Commercial Description:
In life, Jutsu is all about stealthy ninja techniques (well actually techniques, skills, methods, tricks, or spells according to Wikipedia) but in beer it’s a fantastically balanced pale ale. Easy drinking with low bitterness.

After experimenting with different yeasts, hops, and grain bills over the course of 5 separate versions, we’ve decided on a final recipe (that’s a derivation of V.5). The winning combination of pale malts, an expressive Vermont ale yeast, and fruity Galaxy and Citra hops culminate into a perfectly refreshing and bright pale ale. Weighing in at a cool 5.6%, it is quite easily the answer to a) your prayers, and b) the question, “What should I have to drink right now?”.

A pale ale (New England style). Poured from a 500mL bottle into a Bellwoods snifter.

Appearance: A hazy, light yellow straw colour. Pours with 8-10mm of head that dissipates quickly.

Aroma: Tropical juice with notes of melon, citrus fruits and mango.

Taste: Perfectly balanced. Refreshing juice, with a higher citrus to tropical ratio than the aroma. Some hop bitterness notable towards the end, with very subtle notes of grass. A very smooth finish.

Feel: Medium-light body with medium carbonation.

Overall: An absolutely delicious nectar, that is smooth, balanced and very crushable. A tier one beer from one of Canada's very best breweries.

Soft, hazy straw with a little visible carbonation and one finger of yellowish head.

Smells immediately of peaches, wafting, fruity notes, caramel, salt water taffy, and lemon cream.

Up front its bitter like grapefruit pith, then a cocktail of tropical fruit notes, pineapple, caramel and a kids candy quality, like a soft lemon or maple taffy.

Medium body, with little carbonation.

Excellent brew. Got this at the Bellwoods Haffis Rd location a couple days ago, drinking it in Muskoka Jan 30th, 2018.

Got this one at the brewery bottle shop.

From a 500ml bottle into a pint glass

APPEARANCE: Pours a two finger, medium looking, creamy, bright white head with great retention. Hazy, opaque, cloudy amber orange with no carbonation. Head slowly fades to a full, somewhat foamy cap. A full wisp remains until the end leaving touches of lacing on the glass as it empties.

SMELL: Really juicy with pineapple, passion fruit, mango, orange and mandarin. Lots of tropical fruits. Lovely.

TASTE: Passion fruit, pineapple, melon and orange up front. Piles of tropical fruity flavor. Juicy. Medium but lingering finish with lots more tropical fruits, pineapple, melon and some honeydew. A mild dose of hop bitterness lingers as well. Really good stuff.

PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. A bit prickly on the palate perhaps, though creamy enough, goes down fine and finishes a bit dry. Mild bitterness lingers.

OVERALL: This is lovely. Had piles of this at the brewery and drank a bunch of bottles at home. I've had this one several times over the years and it seems to have gotten cloudier recently. It's definitely gotten juicier and more delicious. This stuff is well worth going to the brewery for and it's excellent on tap as well. Cheers!

A 500ml bottle with no bottled on or best before date, pouring into a Holy Mountain tulip glass.

Appearance: A hazy straw yellow colour, with a one finger white head that dissipates fairly quickly, but leaves some nice lacing.

Aroma: Tropical mango, pineapple, citrus grapefruit and melon.

Taste: Similar to the aroma but less tropical and more citrus. Only lightly bitter.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall: An excellent surprise. A very enjoyable, juicy, easy to drink and refreshing hazy Pale Ale.

Nice strong aroma led by grapefruit & tangelo upon opening the bottle purchased at the brewery on Ossington. Pours a very cloudy straw colour with a small head which fades quickly. Virtually no lacing throughout. Taste is excellent & juicy, led again by grapefruit & tangelo; not quite as much of a hop blast as some DIPAs but at just 5.6%, it packs a lot of flavour. Mouthfeel is moderately full, and juicy enough to mention it again. Pricey, but I will likely look to have this excellent IPA again.

From a 500ml bottle served at 10 degrees Celsius into a snifter.

Look: The beer pours an opaque gold with 2cm of bubbly, white head that fully disappears within two minutes. Overall poor head and no lacing.

Smell: Strong citrusy and tropical fruit hops with notes of grapefruit, pineapple, mango, melon, and grass.

Taste: Follows the aroma seamlessly; nothing more to add. It's all about the hops with malts playing a supportive role. The finish is medium in length and bitter with moderate intensity.

Feel: Medium-light body with lively carbonation. Fizzy, prickly, and drying. No apparent alcohol warmth.

Overall: This beer is a very tasty representation of an American pale ale. What it lacks in looks it makes up for in aroma and flavour. Bellwoods shows again how lighter thirst-quenchers can have tons of flavour. As far as pale ales go, this one's worth a try.

One of the issues I often have with NE style beers is body. For a hazy APA, the body on this is great. Still juicy, lots of tropical, citrusy qualities, but not acidic like some hazy beers.

Bottle received in trade with Byronic. Thanks! A great beer but a few small changes would make it even better. As another reviewer mentioned, mouthfeel is a little too seltzer like, and it has a but of a mccain frozen orange juice from concentrate flavour going on.

Looks wonderfully hazy with a pillowy soft head. Aroma is very tropical - mango and pineapple. Flavour follows similarly with a hint of tartness. Body is slightly thin and makes the beer slightly unfulfilling

On tap at Bellwoods Brewery in Toronto, ON.

This one pours a bright but turbid golden orange, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells pretty great and fantastically tropical, with passionfruit, tangerine, mango, and melon, with a hint of pine as well.

This is wonderfully drinkable, with a fantastic fruity hop flavor going on here. There's not a ton of bitterness here, as expected with the look and style, and a creamy melon/tangerine/mango/grapefruit hop smoothie flavor going on.

This is light bodied, creamy, and fairly crisp, with a good level of carbonation for the style.

This is so, so tasty. It's a real treat to drink.
