This mixed fermentation ale is soured with a house blend of lactobacillus cultures prior to secondary fermentation and a heavy Citra-Simcoe-Cascade dry-hop. The result is juicy, sour, and thirst quenching.

This limited edition version includes a large dose of blackberry, adding additional flavours of blackberry jam and a lovely deep purple colour.

Bottle poured into a Teku. Review based on a fresh bottle as well as a bottle with a couple months of age.

Pours a dark purple, no head or lacing but some frothing. Tons of blackberry aroma. Lots of blackberry in the taste which mellows the tartness of the base Jelly King. The brew retains its tartness and funk but is well balanced with the addition of fruit. The blackberries really shine. A quick dry finish.

Pours a deep purplish, with a minimal head and lacing. Smell is definitely blackberry, then some tart and a tiny bit of funk. Taste is sour blackberry, with a tart/funk addition and then some hops. Feel is nice, full body, with a crisp finish. Carbonation is about medium.

Another success from Bellwoods. A very enjoyable sour, which would go down way too fast on a hot day.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy deep blue color ale with a medium dark pink color ale with average retention and some minor lacing notes. Aroma of intense blackberry notes with light tart notes is quite interesting. Taste is a solid mix of huge blackberry notes with some tart notes and light funky notes with almost no residual sugar notes. Body is super full with limited filtration and good carbonation. Solid sour ale with a ton of fresh blackberry notes.

This one pours a pretty vivid dark purple color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like a dry hopped sour loaded with tons of blackberry, which is nice. There's grapefruit and grassiness on the nose, with loads of juicy blackberry.

This does well, in that retains the feeling of base, but also layers on tons of delicious fruit. It's still crisp, grapefruity, and piney, with loads of dank blackberry layered on.

This is light bodied, crisp and very cleanly fermented, with a good level of carbonation.

Bellwoods is basically always the dopest. This is no exception.

12oz draft pour at the hafis rd. location on may 3 '17. gorgeous opaque pinkish red. a perfect, balanced blend of blackberry flavour, tartness, and bitter-leafy-herbal hops. carbonation is a bit strong, but i find that it works well for this style. phenomenal stuff

500ml bottle from brewery. Deep murky red. Bright carbonation with little head. Strong beery on the nose with subtle piney notes. Slightly less pronounced blackberry on the tongue with greater Hop presence than on the nose. Tangy and tart. Lovely.

Really nice variant to the excellent Jelly King. I find the blackberry a bit overpowering in the aroma, pushing aside the hop aromas a bit too much, but it all comes together once you take a drink. Blackberry, a tart lacto flavour, some citrus fruits in the background and a finish that is dry with a bit of a pucker. I prefer this version to the apricot and plum. I expect to be going through a lot of Jelly King (in all forms) this summer.

One of the best Canadian beers around. Tart from the blackberry like biting into the best blackberries, and that’s the tartness, overal soothed by a yogurt creaminess. Lovely by itself, great with dessert.
