One of the great up and coming breweries in the city, the beer is fantastic.

It's on the smaller side, so if you are there on a Fri/Sat night either come early or be ready to wait. They will take your name/number down and call you when a spot opens up. The servers know their beer; and are passionate about what they brew. The prices are great for a Canadian bar.

The food is excellent but the kitchen is small so they have a limited number of food options.

Went here on a beer tour with 5 other New Englanders doing the Toronto circuit of fine beer establishments. This place was our favorite out of the 13 that we visited over the two days. You feel a bit like you are in a patio/garage but the ambiance works. It's a bit snug and there is definitely lots of people trying to get in. The beer on tap is quite good, but we were literally swooning over the discontinued beers that are bottled. 3 Minutes to Midnight and Donkey Venom were outstanding and the best beers we had in Toronto, and we sampled just about all of them from the top brewpubs in the city. Even the hop head in the group was swooning over these beers. They were just that good and wonderfully complex. An absolute must. The food was a bit limiting. I had the duck meatballs and the lentil salad. I was disappointed that the chicken pot pie had bacon in it - what's up with that. I'm definitely not a organ meat type but the other 5 guys in the group were in love with the chicken liver spread over toasted bread. Not for me, but they all loved it and their arteries are no better for it. Overall, if you are going to visit the brewpubs in Toronto, this one is top of the list. Amsterdam and Indie Ale House were also notable and worth seeking out.

Overall an amazing place. The beer is authentic and varied. There is a true focus on quality and appreciation for beer. Great staff and a short but well thought out menu.

A really great neighborhood just West of downtown Toronto, easily accessible by trolley (Take either the 505 from Dundas, or the 501 from either Queen or King St heading West), sits Bellwoods. Excellent outside patio and partially covered inside. The bottle shop is just next door as well, much of the bottle work and artwork decorates the place from the hired artist which makes a nice touch.

Real solid brews, and the bottle list is where things really shine. Make sure to check something out from there, but the regular taps are also very solid brews as well.

Really nice and attentive service as well. The food menu looks also very thought out and put together, but I had very little of it.

A must stop place while in Toronto for any beer fan.

Always a chilled, friendly place to hang out where you're sure to see some people you know, drink some fantastic beers, and have good conversation. The street noise can sometimes be a bit much, and sometimes I wish they had more "beer" food to keep you there longer, but the food in general is decent. I just find it's a bit too far into the realm of eating out / bistro food, when most of the time I'm there to just enjoy a few pints with my wife and friends.....

Vibe: This place is awesome. Visited two nights in a row (Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon/evening), and both times there was a line to get seated. Everyone is super friendly (Canadians, eh), and you just get the feeling everyone working here loves the beer/brewery, and tons of locals frequent it as well.

Quality: Prior to my trip, research via BA indicated Bellwoods is probably creating the best beers in Canada - I would agree with this statement. Their IIPA was outstanding, resinous and hoppy, yet still balanced nicely. They also had a limited mango version on tap which was quite quaffable. Their bottle sales (to enjoy on-site or take away) were great. We had a bottle of the Motley Cru (Sour Red aged in white wine oak barrels if memory serves right), and it was fabulous.

Service: Attentive and knowledgable about both food and beers.

Selection: My only gripe (and it's a very small one), was that they only had about six beers on draft. Would've loved to have tried more. Each was very well done.

Food: I didn't expect the food to shine, but like the beer it was also great. Their charcuterie/salumi plate, along with the cheese selections were great compliments to the tap list.

You. Must. Go. to Bellwoods if you're visiting. If you're a local, you must travel to BW on a frequent basis.

As you can tell from the many positive reviews, Bellwoods seems to be a popular place to get some excellent beers. Having been able to see for myself, I agree: it is located in a quiet semi-residential neighborhood, a bit west of the downtown core. (I took the No. 63 Bus from the Ossington Street subway station - it passes right by.) The focal point is the busy patio that is set out from the open garage doors; there is a small bar to the left with a smattering of cramped tables taking up what space there is for the rather hipster crowd. Next door is the retail store. On draft were a wide array of their delicious brews; during my visit: I enjoyed: Wizard Wolf, a crisp sessional IPA, Paper Tiger, a dry-hopped lager, a nice and balanced stout, Witchshark, a massive Imperial IPA and wonderful barrel-aged session called "Farmageddon." Worth the trip, alone.

Great service and a unique food menu - I opted for their Chorizo verde, a spicy sausage entrée - makes for a must visit when in Toronto. I understand that they are expanding. No surprise here. I wish them well.

Visited Bellwoods on a busy June Saturday. It's packed and noisy, and our party of two was seated upstairs in a narrow seating section relatively quickly. The beer was great, service was friendly, and the food was really good. A standout the day we were there was the asparagus - but the tuna, and the fries, were also good.

Awesome brewery, wish they had rare stuff in their bottle shop next door!
