On tap at Phileas Fogg's. I can't believe only 1 person has rated this at a 4 or higher. It had a great hop flavor and a crisp overall feel. A nice bitterness, not too abrasive (which I really wouldn't mind) but just right. Solid beer.

On-tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad

Pours an orange/golde color with a white head. Citrus notes on the nose with some orange and tangerine peel. A lot of floral character, some light pine, and a good bread note. Quite a bit of perfume to the nose. The flavor is lightly bitter with some hints of pine. A bit of bready malt, some citrus peel, and lots of floral notes. A bit of grapefruit along with the orange peel.

On tap at pizza port Carlsbad

A: Pours a clear coppery color with a thin off white head. Slight rings of lace down the glass.

S: Very faint fruity hop aroma. Maybe a hint of apricot. Not really a ton there.

T: A decent bitterness to it but not a whole lot in the way of flavor. A big malty backbone with hints of caramel. Lingering bitter finish with a touch of overripe mango. Wouldn't get this again

A: Pours a glowing light amber color with a good finger width of off-white head and some nice cling. Certainly looks the part.

S: Faint aroma of fruity hops. More in the way of stone fruit rather than anything citrus. Apricot perhaps. Some caramel malts. Very mild aroma for an IPA.

T: Malt forward balance with a pronounced warm breadiness and bit of caramel sweetness. Bitterness level is fair. There are some faint fruity notes but that maybe more by way of yeast esters. Has a slight tartness towards the finish. This one needs some work. Where are the flavor and aroma hops?

M: Standard mouthfeel. Nice medium size body with a bit of sticky slick feel. Touch of drying in the finish.

D: This was forgettable. I am all for more breweries around here but this was not a good intro for me. A bit pedestrian by San Diego standards. I do dig the name though.

On tap at Local Habit in San Diego. Handsome appearance with amber color and ample foam in the pint glass.

Quite delicious flavor, rich and malty, but in a fairly light bodied way. Flowery swath of aromatic hops. Also plenty of bittering hops but with a warm and friendly hoppiness. Bitterness fades to a nice glow. Toast and a touch of resin. Just a little woody. A great gulp.

This is called an IPA by the brewery, but I'd say the hop level is more like a regular Pale Ale. Maybe there's a British influence. In any case, it's not the usual crazed hop attack some folks are used to in a West Coast IPA.
