Bottle: a solid 500mL brown bottle with an interesting if not brilliant craft label.

Appearance: poured into a tulip glass - a vibrant, clear orange-amber with loads of fine carbonation from the centre of the glass. A one-finger off-white head lingers for about a minute before dropping to a solid ring. Almost no lacing.

Aroma: a bit different to the usual IPA - a big, heavy and resin-dominated hop aroma of pine and tropical fruits, with an earth and malt backbone. Very interesting.

Taste: the pine and woody resin take the fore again, with caramel malts making an appearance. Very full in flavour - a lovely AIPA.

Aftertaste: plenty of hop bitterness up front which rises to a chilling crescendo, giving me goose bumps (a good thing!). Very dry on the finish.

Mouth feel: a heavy, almost syrupy body that slides down very easily. The visible carbonation carries the flavour well without being overwhelming. Mouth-filling would be the right word.

Overall: a very impressive American IPA, with a more complex and intriguing profile than some other examples. A very expensive beer, but I'll buy a single or 4-pack every now and then.

500ml bottle poured into pint glass 8/3/14 from notes

A golden copper body, looks thick with some slow bubbles making their way to a well sustained finger of tan foam that leaves a partial ring followed by random patches

S big tropical fruit nose with heavy guava and passion fruit, some tangerine, sweet orange, candied pine apple, caramel and just a little pine

T more pine and a little lemon and lime rind, just a hint of booze, not to far from the nose, slightly less tropical notes but equally good

M full for the color, quite gritty with a nice bitter snap to it, enough bubbles to give it some life, slick on the palate after the fact

O I could drink a few of these without getting board and I just might, its overly hoppy but not a complete runaway, the sweet malt somehow holds its own

I bought this one for the label alone as I've never heard of this brewery but I might have uncovered a hidden gem, I'll be on the lookout for more from these guys

Bright and vibrant.

Attractive sweet malt aroma, giving way to grassy green hops with some citrus and pineapple.

Plenty of punch up front when tasted, and some persistent bitterness at the end. Complex. Supple mouthfeel.

The NZ Sauvin hops is the star of this show. A good showcase of what it can do.

Definitely not a session beer, but I enjoyed it.

Another new release and I love the artwork on label very catchy and it pours a light amber hue with a one finger head and a rim of lacing, the smell is gooseberries, lychee, sweet malts and pineapple basically Nelson Sauvin on show, the mouthfeel is medium bodied with perfect moderate carbonation and the taste as you would expect is a showcasing of this lovely NZ hop which starts off berry sweet then is mellowed out by a citrus bitterness that makes way for a solid piney hop bitterness that is allowed to shine due to the nice subtle malt character and overall I like it and definitely a brew that's worth a crack cheers.
